The Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a People & Culture Assistant to join our People & Culture Team for the summer. If you have a passion for providing an exemplary HR experience and want to work in a fast paced environment this opportunity is for you! The People & Culture Assistant will work within the People & Culture Department providing both recruitment and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:

Assists with the recruitment process by creating job postings, scheduling phone, video and in-person interviews with hiring managers;

Performs a range of administrative duties often involving material of a confidential nature.

Assists with preparing and developing HR correspondence including employment verification letters and other employee correspondence;

Acts as a front line resource for all employee inquiries and actively manages the HR mailbox and assigns/forwards correspondence to the appropriate team member;

Responsible for the maintenance of employment records in the HRIS, ensuring complete accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with by-laws and other regulatory bodies;

Acts as minute taker at Labour Management Committee meetings;

Responsible for all HR filing as needed;

Participates in the OH&S Committee as the P&C representative;
Qualified candidates will posses:
-
A minimum of one year’s post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field of study;

Strong written, oral and presentation communication skills;
-
Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills;
-
Demonstrated ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality;
-
Computer literacy in Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, E-mail and internet applications including Zoom;
-
Proven problem-solving abilities, adaptable, and exercises good judgment.

One year of experience in an office environment is an asset.

Experience working with Human Resources Information Management Systems and Applicant Tracking Systems is an asset.
Preference will be given to candidates who also posses:

Interest in the field of Human Resources;
-
CPHR or working towards designation;
-
Experience within a unionized environment;
-
A second language.
A criminal record check is required as a part of this process.
