Your Opportunity:

This is an exciting leadership opportunity with the Community Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Service (CRIS) within Assisted Living Alberta, Specialty Programs. The Occupational Therapist II - Team Lead provides services to adults living in the community with complex rehabilitation needs across three CRIS sites: Mother Rosalie Health Services Centre, Kaye Edmonton Clinic, and Strathcona Community Hospital. Reporting to the Manager, CRIS Program, Assisted Living Alberta, the OT II - Team Lead is responsible and accountable for the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of occupational therapy services within an interdisciplinary model of care. This role provides clinical leadership, mentorship, and operational support to occupational therapists and the broader CRIS team, while maintaining strong communication with management, clinical leaders, and stakeholders. The Team Lead supports evidence‑informed practice and ensures alignment with organizational, departmental, and professional standards, while actively identifying and addressing quality, safety, and workflow concerns. This position plays a key role in service planning, eligibility and triage processes, staff coaching and development, and advancing consistent OT practice across sites. Working closely with the CRIS leadership team, the OT II – Team Lead supports the delivery of seamless, high‑quality, sustainable, and patient‑centered care, acting as an advanced practice clinician and a key resource for occupational therapy services within the program.

Description:

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

A Master’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of recent experience as a rehabilitation clinician working with adults in community settings are required. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical knowledge in adult rehabilitation, with experience in Health Change Methodology™, Connect Care EMR documentation, and clinical leadership. Applicants must be able to work independently in a dynamic environment and demonstrate strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and critical‑thinking skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong assessment, organizational, and interpersonal abilities, are required. The role requires the ability to build collaborative relationships, navigate sensitive situations, and give and receive constructive feedback. Proficiency in virtual care platforms, EMR systems, email, and word‑processing software is required, along with an understanding of community rehabilitation and social determinants of health. This position involves medium physical effort (20–50 lbs.), including lifting, carrying, bending, pushing, pulling, navigating stairs, and supporting client mobility and functional tasks. Prolonged sitting and computer use are required for documentation and virtual care. Ability to travel to all three CRIS sites is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in neurorehabilitation and research‑informed practice. Experience in collaborative working groups and student preceptorship. Experience with functional capacity evaluation, assistive technology, and virtual group facilitation. Driven, motivated, and passionate about advancing CRIS services, standards, and team culture.
