61-2026 – Financial Coaching /Group Facilitator (Temporary/Contract)
We are seeking a skilled, engaging, and client-centered Financial Coach and Group Facilitator to join our Financial Coaching team.
This role delivers both group-based financial education and individual (1:1) financial coaching, supporting clients in building financial knowledge, skills, and confidence. You will design and facilitate workshops while also working directly with clients to achieve their financial goals.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, community-based environment and brings strong facilitation, coaching, communication, and program development skills.
Location: Ottawa, Office-based (312 Parkdale Avenue) Ottawa, Office-based. FSO-SFO is located on the unceded Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation

Salary: $53,476.41 to $60,078.14 (Level 4)
Hours of Work: Evening and weekend work is required (7 hours per week)

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Financial Coach and Group Facilitator deliver workshops, courses, and training sessions while also providing one-on-one financial coaching.
This role ensures engaging, inclusive learning experiences and supports clients in improving financial stability through goal setting, education, and ongoing coaching.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Development
- Assess client and community needs to identify relevant financial education and coaching topics
- Design and develop workshops, courses, and coaching materials that are practical, evidence-informed, and accessible
- Create tools, worksheets, and resources for both group and individual coaching
- Adapt and update materials based on feedback and emerging needs
- Ensure all content is inclusive, culturally appropriate, and accessible
Group Program Delivery
- Facilitate workshops and group sessions using effective adult learning techniques
- Create a welcoming, respectful, and trauma-informed learning environment
- Prepare and set up group sessions (in-person or virtual)
- Respond to participant questions and manage group dynamics effectively
- Identify participant needs and refer to appropriate community resources or supports
- Promote and refer participants to one-on-one financial coaching when appropriate
- Ensure spaces are organized, and materials are properly stored after sessions
Individual Financial Coaching
- Provide one-on-one, client-centered financial coaching using a strength-based, trauma-informed approach
- Assess clients’ financial situations and support goal setting and priority identification
- Support budgeting, debt management, credit rebuilding, income stabilization, and financial decision-making
- Develop personalized action plans and provide ongoing coaching and accountability
- Empower clients to build financial confidence and long-term stability
Administrative Support
- Maintain confidentiality of client and participant information
- Prepare materials and participant packages for sessions
- Track attendance, maintain client records, and complete data entry
- Distribute and collect evaluations and compile feedback
- Track and report program participation and outcomes

You are engaging, adaptable, and passionate about supporting individuals to build financial stability and confidence. You bring strong facilitation and coaching skills and are comfortable working with diverse groups, including individuals facing financial or social barriers.
You are organized, collaborative, and committed to inclusive, trauma-informed, and client-centered service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience

Post-secondary education in social work, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required

Certified Financial Counsellor (CFC) or Candidate for CFC is required

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in financial services, counselling, social services, or related fields.

Experience working with vulnerable populations, including those impacted by complex social challenges

Demonstrated experience supporting individuals and/or families affected by interpersonal or gender-based violence (IPV/GBV), mental health challenges, and/or involvement with the child welfare system
- Experience in non-profit or social services settings is an asset
- Experience developing workshops or curriculum is an asset
Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of personal finance (budgeting, debt, credit, savings, financial goal setting)
- Understanding of barriers affecting low-income and vulnerable populations
- Knowledge of community resources and support
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and facilitation techniques
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Language
- Excellent oral and written communication in English. Proficiency in a second language relevant to the community (e.g., French or Arabic) is required
