Stores Attendant (Casual)
In-Hospital Replenishment and Distribution

In this role you will be responsible for:
- Performing a variety of stores duties in designated areas of the In-Hospital and Replenishment and logistics operations of Interior Health such as shipping and receiving, filling requisitions/orders, unpacking, checking, storing and distributing supplies/goods.
What you’ll do
- Receive, unpacks and check incoming materials from suppliers; ensures that supplies/goods are delivered as per specifications; and complete related paper work such as signing delivery slips. Sort and place articles in appropriate areas; rotate stock and ensure inventory shelves/areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Check invoices against orders and supplies/goods and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and/or departments.
- Assemble, issue and ship supplies/goods from requisition requests received; load orders onto carts for delivery; and complete required documentation in accordance with established procedures.
- Identify damaged/spoiled goods and advises appropriate personnel in accordance with established procedures; arrange for delivery and return of loan and return items; return damaged or spoiled goods to supplier as required/directed. Complete appropriate documentation.
- Perform physical inventory counts and maintains inventory records. Replenish stock based on established minimum/maximum levels and advises when established re-order points are reached in accordance with established procedures; make adjustments to stock items in accordance with established guidelines; make recommendations for changes to inventory items and/or levels.
- Maintain records and provides information regarding stores activities; ensure correct coding on stock items; maintain security measures.
- Pick up and deliver a variety of supplies and/or materials to and from various locations in accordance with established policies, procedures and schedules as required.
- Transports a variety of supplies and/or materials to and from delivery locations by operating a variety of vehicles including trucks up to 10,000 lbs or 4536 Kg gross vehicle weight as required.
- Perform a variety of routine inspection/maintenance duties on vehicles and equipment such as securing load, cleaning, checking belts, lights and tires and maintaining fluid levels; recommends vehicle and equipment repairs as required. Maintain related documentation such as log books as required.
- Keep assigned stores area(s) and goods and supplies in a clean and tidy condition.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities by performing duties such as providing input/feedback to the Manager (or designate) on work procedures and opportunities for process improvement.

Qualifications
- Grade 12 plus one year’s recent related experience. Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience with retail, inventory, stocking, replenishment, supply chain, distribution, stores and merchandising.
- Valid Class 5 vehicle license is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples in social and health contexts, including supported by significant knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, including clear understanding of and commitment to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination and embed Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts. This includes understanding how these factors contribute to current health disparities and barriers to care. Show a clear commitment to identifying, challenging, and eradicating Indigenous-specific racism and all forms of discrimination impacting equity-deserving groups within health care settings. This involves familiarity and understanding Indigenous Cultural Safety and Humility recognizing personal biases, institutional barriers, engaging in anti-racism education and training and advocating for systemic change.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments within In-Hospital Replenishment and Distribution contexts found in the foundational documents including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study - BC Human Rights Code, BC Anti-racism Act and how they intersect across the health care system.

- Brings an understanding of the Indigenous specific racism and the broader systemic racism that exists in the colonial health care structure, and has demonstrated initiatives in breaking down barriers and ensuring a safe environment ensuring a sense of belonging to all and informed by Indigenous Cultural Safety.
- Awareness of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (the Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

Job Type: Casual (Casual is defined as on call with no guaranteed hours. Shifts can be called out via short call (1-5 hours of notice) or pre-booked)
Wage: $26.80/per hour + 13% in lieu
