The University of Calgary, Faculty of Nursing is seeking Sessional Nursing Instructors to teach undergraduate level clinical course for the Winter Semester 2027 in the BScN program as follows:
WINTER SEMESTER (January 11 - April 12, 2027)

Term 4 - NRSG 352 (Acute Care Nursing I) (please identify in your application if there is a specific schedule option you wish to be considered for)
Schedule:
- Option #1: Off-campus Tuesday & Wednesday with On-campus Lab Monday 0900-1200

Option #2: Off-campus Thursday & Friday with On-campus Lab Monday 1330-1630
We are seeking applicants with nursing practice in acute and chronic care environments, particularly those with previous nursing education practice experience. Practice education takes place both on and off campus. Scheduling varies and may include a combination of days and evening shifts, Monday through Friday. Successful applicants are required to be available for the entire duration of term. Orientation takes place the week prior to term.
Sessional Instructors are provided with exceptional orientation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development. The amount of remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. Teaching Responsibilities:

Facilitate low to high-fidelity simulation activities within the Clinical Simulation Learning Centre

Work effectively with small groups of students on-campus or in off campus settings in acute and chronic care (medical/surgical) environments
- Participate in team meetings related to the practice course and faculty governance

Participate in student assessment and evaluations on and off campus
-
Seek excellence in teaching by applying various teaching strategies and working with colleagues
-
Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence informed practice
Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Candidates with BN/BScN preparation and above will be considered.
Applied Experience:
- Current practice experience related to semester focus

Broad experience across a variety of areas

Experience in clinical teaching, mentoring and supervision of students

- Application of adult teaching/learning principles

Use of nursing process and conceptual frameworks assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation

Communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals

Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of varied settings
