Position Summary:

As a key member of the healthcare team under the direction of Executive and Office Manager. the Medical Receptionist works closely with patients, families and caregivers to organize the patient’s journey through there appointments at the clinic.

Responsibilities:

Administration

· Patient check in.

· Prioritize and respond to phone calls and messages in a timely manner

· Triage urgencies to ensure appropriate intervention & responds to the patient appropriately.

· Provides a variety of administrative duties within clinic such as faxes, scanning, shredding, dictation letters, photocopying, making patient information booklets, and other tasks as required by case manager and/or management team or for the efficient running of their own workflow, surgeon’s individual clinic and Alberta Hip and Knee Clinic.

· Third party billing for form fees and product sales

· Set-up patient education as required and follow-up as necessary.

Education

Medical Office Assistant Certificate or diploma or Administrative Certificate or Diploma.

Experience

Minimum 3 year in a medical administration using electronic medical records software
Solid understanding of the Health Information Act, patient privacy law and FIOP
Intermediate level knowledge of medical terminology
Solid skills in using software such as MicroSoft Office
Excellent understanding of Physician & RN instructions to patients in written format
Experience using Accuro EMR is an Asset

A minimum of 2 professional references, former supervisors only, will be required

This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check. Two pieces of valid Government issued ID will be required
