Job Summary / Primary Role
The QC Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing Quality Control procedures for all materials, components, kits and final testing of our Tire Pressure Control System products. Based out of our Edmonton, Alberta facility, this role oversees the quality of multi-level kit builds destined for commercial on/off-road trucks, agricultural equipment, and off-road utility vehicles globally.
This position carries direct floor authority and oversight regarding shop floor shipping & receiving, production and assembly staff. Your duties will include:
- Development & author of visual assembly procedures.
- Implement and monitor all quality control processes throughout the production department.
- Monitor the receiving of inventory from a quality control perspective.
- Monitor and ensure adhesion to procedures in assembly and packaging departments.
- Audit multi-level ERP kit structures.
- Hold the direct responsibility and authority to take immediate corrective action or halt production in cases of quality non-compliance.
Primary Responsibilities
Shop Floor Oversight & Quality Enforcement
- Enforce Compliance: Monitor shop floor production and assembly staff to ensure absolute adherence to quality standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Audit Multi-Level Kits: Validate complex kit structures (wheel hubs, rotary seals, valve blocks, wiring harnesses, electronic control units) against Bills of Materials (BOM) to guarantee total shipping and production accuracy.
- Manage ERP Data Integrity: Utilize the ERP system to verify multi-level kit configurations, track component revisions, and accurately log material non-conformances.
- Authority to Take Action: Possess the direct authority to issue formal non-compliance notices, mandate immediate rework, or halt the assembly line to rectify safety or quality defects.
Secondary role
To be a support for our Inventory / Production Manager
- Be available to fill in the role of Inventory / Production Manager in his absence.
- To understand all aspects of inventory control, stock levels, vendors and PO system, & receiving procedures.
- Optimize Kitting Operations: Apply Lean manufacturing principles to reduce material handling times and streamline the assembly of all kits.
- Report to Upper Management: Track and analyze production metrics (first-time pass rates, assembly times, testing defects) and present data-driven quality insights directly to the executive leadership team.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Technical Competencies & Experience
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical production & quality control environments. Prior experience in a leadership, lead hand, or supervisory quality role is highly preferred.
- ERP System Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for navigating manufacturing data, inventory, and BOMs. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience is considered a significant asset.
- Schematic Fluency: Proficiency reading and interpreting pneumatic fluid power charts, mechanical fabrication blueprints, and electrical wiring schematics.
- Precision Tools: Demonstrated experience using measurement tools, multi-meters, torque wrenches.
- Technical Writing: Strong written communication skills with explicit experience converting complex mechanical processes into simple, easy-to-follow manuals or instructions.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Assertive Quality Leadership: Ability to firmly and professionally enforce quality standards on the shop floor and confidently take corrective action with assembly staff.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Robust mechanical skills with a strong understanding of component assemblies & finished system kits.
- Attention to Detail: Hyper-focused on catching assembly and product defects, minor wiring pin defects, or subtle kit variances that compromise system reliability.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal communication to deliver constructive feedback to assembly teams and clear, high-level summaries to upper management.
