BAR MANAGER Bougie on a Budget Inc.
Planning. Pouring. Perfection.
Bougie on a Budget is growing our bar team, and we're looking for an organized, confident, experienced Bar Manager to join us!
This is a hybrid position that combines working from home during the week with being hands-on and in the field during our busy wedding and event weekends.
This role is perfect for someone who loves hospitality, enjoys the event industry, knows how to lead a team, and can take ownership of an entire bar operation from planning to execution.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Bar Manager, you will oversee the planning, staffing, preparation, organization, and execution of our bar services.
During the week, you'll work primarily from home handling client meetings, planning, documents, staffing, scheduling, shopping lists, cocktail preparation, and bar logistics.
On weekends, you'll be out in the field leading our bartending teams and ensuring our clients receive the Bougie on a Budget experience we are known for.
This is not simply a senior bartender position... you'll play a key role in helping build and manage our entire bar division.
WEEKDAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities will include:
Client & Event Planning
- Conducting meetings and consultations with all Bougie on a Budget bar clients
- Reviewing client bar packages, timelines, guest counts, and event details
- Creating customized cocktail menus and drink recommendations
- Confirming all bar requirements before each event
- Creating and updating bar documents and event resources
Cocktails, Garnishes & Prep
- Maintaining and expanding our custom cocktail library
- Creating and updating standardized cocktail recipes
- Preparing detailed cocktail prep lists
- Creating detailed liquor, beverage, garnish, and supply shopping lists
- Coordinating all fresh and soft garnishes required for events
- Purchasing or arranging the purchase of fresh garnishes as required
- Ensuring fresh garnishes are properly prepared, packaged, stored, and ready for each event
- Bringing required fresh/soft garnishes and other bar-prep items to site for the bartending team
- Ensuring the team has everything required to execute the bar menu properly
Staffing & Team Management
- Hiring and onboarding bartending staff
- Building bartending teams for each event
- Creating and managing staff schedules
- Communicating event details and expectations to bartenders
- Ensuring staff are properly prepared before each event
- Managing staff availability and coverage
- Developing and maintaining bar SOPs and systems
Inventory & Event Preparation
- Tracking bar inventory and supplies
- Reviewing quantities required for each event
- Preparing event-specific shopping and supply lists
- Organizing bar equipment and supplies
- Preparing event bins, supplies, garnishes, menus, and other bar necessities
- Ensuring all required items are accounted for before leaving for an event
WEEKEND / ON-SITE RESPONSIBILITIES
Weekend availability is required for this position.
When assigned to an event, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and supervising bartending teams
- Ensuring bartenders arrive on time and are properly prepared
- Bringing fresh/soft garnishes and required bar-prep items to the event
- Ensuring all bar supplies and equipment have arrived on-site
- Managing bar setup and breakdown
- Assisting the team with cocktail and garnish prep
- Ensuring the bar is stocked, organized, and operating efficiently
- Troubleshooting issues throughout the event
- Supporting bartenders and stepping in when necessary
- Communicating with clients, venues, planners, and vendors
- Maintaining Bougie on a Budget's service standards
- Managing the flow and operation of the bar
Tills, Tickets & Tips
The Bar Manager will also assist with the financial and operational side of each event, including:
- Counting and preparing tills before events
- Ensuring starting cash/till amounts are accurate
- Counting tills and reconciling cash at the end of events
- Counting and reconciling tips
- Managing ticket counts / drink ticket inventory where applicable
- Tracking bar tickets and quantities as required
- Identifying and reporting discrepancies
- Preparing and distributing staff tips
- Ensuring all cash, tickets, and tip counts are accurately documented
- Completing post-event reporting and follow-up
You will be expected to be a leader on the floor, not simply another bartender.
SOCIAL MEDIA & CONTENT CREATION
We want our Bar Manager to help us show off the Bougie bar experience!
Part of this role will include capturing content during events for our social media platforms.
You'll be expected to:
- Capture photos and videos of beautiful bar setups
- Capture cocktail-making and bartending moments
- Capture behind-the-scenes content
- Take short-form video for Reels and TikTok
- Capture fresh garnishes, cocktails, bar details, and team moments
- Identify opportunities for social media content throughout events
- Provide organized photos and videos to our social media team
- Help showcase our bartenders, cocktails, setups, and overall client experience
You don't need to be a professional content creator, but you do need to have an eye for good content and be comfortable using your phone to capture photos and videos.
COMPENSATION$22–$30/hour + TIPS
You will start at $22/hour, with opportunities for increases based on experience, performance, leadership, and the level of responsibility you take on.
Our wage structure has a maximum of $30/hour.
Starting wage: $22/hour

YES — TIPS ARE ON TOP OF YOUR HOURLY WAGE!
Our bar events generate tips in addition to your hourly pay.

As Bar Manager, you will also be responsible for accurately counting, reconciling, and distributing tips following events.
Your earning potential therefore goes beyond your hourly wage, particularly during our busy wedding season.
