Full job description

We are currently looking for a hardworking, charismatic individual to join our team as a Hydraulic Technician at our Guelph, Ontario location.

The Hydraulic Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems and components. This role supports the build, repair, and testing of hydraulic equipment by interpreting technical drawings and work orders, ensuring components are installed and functioning to specification, and maintaining quality and safety standards at all times. The Hydraulic Technician may also assist with fabrication, fitting, and related shop duties as required.

Shift: Monday to Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, charts, and work orders to determine hydraulic system requirements and the sequence of work.
Assemble, install, and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, hoses, fittings, and related components.
Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot hydraulic systems to identify leaks, malfunctions, wear, and performance issues.
Perform pressure testing, function testing, and verification of hydraulic assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances.
Use measuring instruments and testing equipment to verify dimensions, fit, pressure levels, and overall system performance.
Install and route hydraulic hoses, tubing, and fittings in accordance with technical drawings and safety standards.
Maintain, clean, and organize tools, equipment, workstations, and immediate work areas.
Document and report deviations from specifications, test results, deficiencies, and required corrective actions.
Support fabrication, fitting, and light mechanical assembly activities related to hydraulic systems and equipment.
Handle and transport materials, parts, and components safely within the shop or production area.
Monitor hydraulic system operation during testing and start-up to ensure proper performance and product quality.
Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and report safety concerns or personnel conflicts to your manager.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and supervisory staff to resolve technical issues and improve efficiency.
Perform preventative maintenance and other duties as required.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED.
Post-secondary education in hydraulics, mechanical techniques, industrial maintenance, millwright, heavy equipment, or a related trade is preferred.
Experience assembling, repairing, troubleshooting, or testing hydraulic systems and components.
Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic or pressure-testing equipment.
Knowledge of hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, hose assemblies, and fluid power systems is an asset.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office products and completing service or inspection documentation.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to identify practical, effective solutions.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Physical stamina and manual dexterity suited to the demands of the role.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods of time.
Keen attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Able to work on a team while remaining self-motivated and independent when required.
