ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY
Black & McDonald's Southwest Ontario Service team is growing! We are looking for a committed, motivated and collaborative professional ready to use their technical trade knowledge and growth-orientated mindset to build on our current electrical service operations and elevate it to a leading position in Southwest Ontario. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about building strong customer relationships and has the leadership skills to support, mentor and grow a high-performing field team.
Working both within Black & McDonald's existing client base and pursuing new relationships in the Greater Hamilton and Waterloo areas, the Electrical Operations Supervisor will report to the Department Manager and be part of a collaborative Divisional Strategy for leading and growing a team of professional electricians and electrical service technicians. Working with our business development team, and cross-trade supervisors, this position will identify new electrical opportunities and lead the delivery of our electrical maintenance, service, troubleshooting, emergency response, and small project work.
General duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, coach and lead a team of forepersons, electricians, apprentices, and service technicians, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and professional development.

Coordinate daily work activities and manage the lifecycle of service calls, PMs, and small project work.

Provide technical support for service calls, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and small projects.

Assist in quoting service calls and small electrical projects.

Collaborate with the Department and Division Manager to set growth strategy, using technical knowledge and industry insights to help shape regional goals.

Support work involving power distribution, lighting, generators, UPS systems, fire alarm systems, solar, and controls.

Work with business development team, project representatives and supervisors in identifying new electrical leads and securing service agreements.

Champion a 'safety-first' culture and ensure standards for safe working conditions are enforced.

Resolve client concerns, and build relationships that turn one-time clients into longtime partners.

Conduct quality assurance and safety inspections.

Attend regular service & safety meetings.

Other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
- Understanding of industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) electrical systems.
- In depth knowledge of OESC, ESA requirements, and applicable CSA standards.
- Knowledge and experience with union (IBEW) trade agreements
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5-10+ years in electrical service, maintenance, or facility operations, with a proven track record of leading people in a trade environment

309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician License required.

442A Industrial Electrician, 434A Powerline Technician or Master Electrician license considered an Asset
- UWPC code certification considered an asset.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Southwest Ontario – Oakville (Halton) up to Orangeville, East of Woodstock, South to Niagara/Fort Erie

The expected salary range for this role is between $90,000 - $110,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
