Responsibilities
- Perform paint preparation tasks on various steel structures and components to ensure proper coating adhesion.
- Use specialized hand and power tools to sand, grind, and smooth out steel surfaces according to technical specifications.
- Inspect finished steel pieces for defects, uneven surfaces, or remaining debris before moving them to the painting station.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace within the manufacturing facility by clearing debris and storing tools properly.
- Assist fellow team members with material handling and moving heavy steel parts safely across the production floor.
- Follow all established health and safety guidelines, including the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any equipment malfunctions or material defects immediately to the shop supervisor to minimize production downtime.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a general labour, manufacturing, or industrial production setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate a variety of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and sanding steel components consistently.
- Reliable transportation to ensure punctual arrival for the 8:30 AM day shift in Burlington.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety protocols, including wearing steel-toed boots.
- Availability to complete the full duration of the short-term contract assignment.
