The Supervisor, Seniors Services functions as a member of the Long Term Care and Seniors Services management team, and is responsible for the day to day supervision, administration, and coordination of the services. This includes associated dealings with the community, clients, families, volunteers, employees and contracted service providers. The Supervisor is responsible for financial performance, operational planning and results with regards to the Seniors Services. These Services consist of the Life Lease Suites and Garden Homes, Retirement Living apartments, Affordable Housing units, Supportive Housing and the Adult Day Program. The Supervisor oversees community housing admissions, discharges and waitlist management, and is responsible to assist in policy development, and oversees the implementation of all related policies, procedures, guidelines and activities to ensure quality services and sustainable financial strength. 1. Under the leadership of the Director, Seniors Services, supervises the operational planning process, supports and achieves long range goals, and manages the operational business plans that are aligned with the Seniors Services vision, strategic plans and goals.
2. Supervises Seniors Services to ensure that they meet all legislative requirements and standards set by the Retirement Homes Act, Residential Tenancy Act ,other applicable legislation and those established through ongoing quality management activities, quality assurance and risk management programs.
3. Maintain high standards of client care. Participates in the long term strategic planning of the department and is responsible for the management of the planning, issue identification and problem solving for day-to-day operations.
4. Assesses and monitors individual requirements for support services, negotiates service agreements and implements services.
5. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the environment and assesses the tenants and clients’ needs for services.
6. Prepares the necessary business plans and documentation.
7. Interacts extensively with the Director, Seniors Services to assess administrative and financial needs of Seniors Services, and to review policies and procedures to meet the changing needs of the services/programs and clients.
8. Prepares reports, makes recommendations, provide advice/direction and attends Board, subcommittee, management team, public and/or other meetings as required.
9. Ensures contracts are reviewed and updated as required.
10. Ensures that the Seniors Services meet all standards for accreditation and maintains compliance with applicable legislated regulations.
11. Review corporate Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Directions and contributes to the LTC and Seniors Services annual goals, objectives and standards.
12. Works closely with the County’s Real Estate Team with regard to leased space and changes occurring in ownership of life lease units ensuring proper administrative documents and processes are completed.
13. Works closely with Long Term Care and Contracted Service Providers Management Teams to promote consistent and collaborative programming and services across the campus.
14. Works closely with the County’s Maintenance and Facilities, Fleet and Asset and Procurement teams to manage major facility, fleet and asset management issues, as well as ensure corporate Procurement Policy procedures are followed.
15. Build and maintain positive, collaborative relations with internal service departments and external agencies.
16. Promote community partnerships and support by representing the County of Simcoe in community committees applicable to operations within Seniors Services.
17. Supports and manages financial goals and measures, and supports the ongoing financial performance of the Seniors Services.
18. Supervises the day to day operations of the budget of Seniors Services. Participates with the Director, Seniors Services to gather information in order to prepare annual budgets in collaboration with the General Manager, Health & Emergency Services.
19. Supervises the purchase of equipment, materials and supplies according to needs, budget limitations and purchasing policy within assigned authority in the Seniors Services.
20. Develops and maintain effective relationships with department managers, co-workers and external contacts as required.
21. Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of client safety principles and practices into all day to day activities. Follows all safe work practices and procedures and immediately communicates any activity or action which may constitute a risk to resident safety.
22. Provides leadership and supervision to department employees in a manner that motivates, guides and directs employees to the realization of department goals and objectives. Maintains a work environment that promotes staff participation, teamwork and positive labour relations.
23. Supervises the hiring, orientation and training of staff in the Seniors Services and oversees their day-to-day activities according to County policies and guidelines.
24. Monitor the storage, retrieval and destruction of all information according to corporate policy and procedures, Ministry of Health Long Term Care Standards and other applicable legislation.
25. Perform other duties as assigned, including redeployment in emergency situations.
26. Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Retirement Homes Act, Residential Tenancy Act, and their regulations in performing duties in a safe manner and follows all County of Simcoe Health & Safety policies, procedures and legislation.
27. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Personal Health Information Protection Act

- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire.
- As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of a TB test, as per Public Health requirements.
- Valid G class drivers license and access to reliable vehicle.
- Proof of annual CPR recertification.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in progressively responsible, related positions.
- One (1) year as a Supervisor in community program or similar position
- Experience in marketing, fundraising, working with volunteer boards, service clubs, etc.
- Experience in the supervision of staff and the administration of employment policies and collective agreements.
- Visual and mental effort required when preparing reports and programming.
- Regular office environment.
- Some of the work day will be spent with clients and may be exposed to illnesses and viruses.
- Will be required to travel within Simcoe County on corporate business.
- Travel between locations is a requirement
