Full job description

Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Woodlands to work out of our Mill Site location. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the key components of active and ongoing harvest operations. These key components include safety, contractor training, harvest contract administration, stump to roadside budget creation, cost tracking, harvest scheduling, production assurance, inventory assessment and harvest rate reviews. Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting with the annual scheduling, harvesting and hauling of up to 1.6 million cubic meters of wood in the Forest Management Area (FMA).
Assist the Planning Department in the development of non-standard harvest plans with difficult terrain or other complications.
Accountable for maintaining and reviewing the harvest cost to own and operate harvest rate model. Ensure the most cost effective and productive equipment is being utilized along with current planning practices to yield cost competitive and profitable harvest rates.
Assist the Manager, Woodlands Operations and Team Lead, Woodlands Operations in the establishment of the Woodlands Operations annual budget of approximately 43 million dollars which includes direct and semi direct costs.
Accountable to review ongoing harvest operations with woodlands coordinators to ensure cost effective, timely, and environmentally compliant operations are being completed.
Participate in the quarterly log flow process to ensure changing mill fibre requirements are met while meeting or reducing budgeted fibre costs. Familiarity with Log haul truck weights by axle configuration and management systems (GPS technology/On Board Computers) an asset.
Regularly review and ensure bush inventories and combined available inventory numbers are aligned with forecast and budgeted parameters.
Accountable for the administration of Op Tracker feller buncher GPS system; ensuring accurate and complete as-built logging depictions.
Participate in and analyze impacts of sub-regional plan development with Management Forester on harvest operations.
Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous cultures with some consultation experience.
Experience auditing for potential risks to existing plans and proactively preparing for cost effective alternative solutions.

Requirements

University Degree or Technical Diploma in Forestry.
Active Registered Professional Forester (RPF), Forest Technician (RPFT), or eligible to become registered with the Alberta Association of Forest Management Professionals.
Minimum of 10 years’ progressively responsible experience in Forestry Operations.
Strong understanding of technical forest management, including operational planning, harvesting and transportation systems, silviculture requirements and applications.
Experience working with Indigenous Communities and stakeholders (communities, forestry, utilities, and energy companies, non-Government Organizations, and government agencies).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, LIMS, LRM and other related software applications.
Understanding of legislative requirements such as Acts and Regulations, Alberta Timber Harvest Planning and Operating Ground Rules, Historical Resources Act, Transportation, Solicitor General, Forest Management in Alberta and the Alberta O.H. & S. Act.

Ability to do physical tasks in all weather conditions.
Ability to work in remote locations for extended periods of time.
Ability to overnight in a camp facility for up to 3 days/week at peak operating times and flexibility to work a varied shift based on business needs.
Clean driving abstract and ability to drive in all-weather conditions.
