Our client is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to lead field operations on complex geotechnical and heavy civil construction projects to do with ground improvement. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for safely delivering high-quality ground improvement works while overseeing crews, subcontractors, equipment, and daily site activities. Working closely with Project Management, the successful candidate will coordinate technical and logistical requirements, ensure projects are completed efficiently and in accordance with engineering specifications, and foster a strong culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence. Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of specialized ground improvement projects, including vibro compaction, vibro replacement (stone columns), soil densification, and other ground stabilization techniques, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily field operations, supervising Site Supervisors, Foremen, crews, subcontractors, and specialized equipment while ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, project schedules, and safety requirements.
- Develop work plans, construction sequencing, and site logistics in collaboration with Project Management to optimize productivity, minimize downtime, and maintain project milestones.
- Monitor project progress through daily site inspections, reporting, and quality control activities, proactively identifying issues, implementing corrective actions, and communicating updates to project stakeholders and client representatives.
- Manage site resources, including equipment, materials, and subcontractors, coordinating maintenance, procurement, inspections, and material usage to maximize operational efficiency and minimize waste.
- Build strong relationships with clients, engineers, consultants, suppliers, and project teams by leading site meetings, conducting daily toolbox talks, providing clear direction to field personnel, and promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of experience delivering ground improvement, geotechnical, or heavy civil construction projects, with significant experience in vibro replacement (stone columns), vibro compaction, soil densification, or related ground improvement methods.
- Proven experience as a Site Superintendent, Senior Site Supervisor, or Construction Superintendent leading multi-disciplinary field crews on complex construction projects.
- Strong technical understanding of granular soil behaviour, ground improvement methodologies, geotechnical construction practices, and specialized ground improvement equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, construction schedules, and quality requirements, ensuring work is executed accurately and in accordance with project standards.
- Thorough knowledge of construction Health & Safety regulations, environmental requirements, quality control processes, and industry best practices, with a strong commitment to maintaining safe job sites.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, manage subcontractors and vendors, solve problems in the field, and successfully deliver projects in fast-paced construction environments.
Pay: $150,000 - $190,000 annually based on experience
On-site five days per week in Burnaby, BC
