Overview
Barn Angels Composting Inc. is hiring a dependable, hard-working, and professional Driver / Farm Labourer / Jack or Jill of All Trades to join our growing team.
This is a unique full-time position that combines truck and trailer driving, farm work, physical labour, equipment use, site maintenance, and respectful deceased animal transport services.
This is a customer-facing role that requires compassion, professionalism, and emotional maturity. Our clients are often dealing with the loss of an animal, and the successful applicant must be able to represent Barn Angels with respect, patience, and care.

This role is a great fit for individuals who are used to physical outdoor work, equipment operation, working in all weather conditions, driving with trailers, maintaining sites and equipment, and staying productive with minimal supervision.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, organized, professional, physically capable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. This is steady, long-term work with room for growth, internal advancement, and performance-based bonuses.
Important Requirements
Applicants must have:
- AR licence required
- Minimum 2 years of truck and trailer driving experience
- Minimum 5 years of overall driving experience
- Experience safely backing up a truck and trailer into tight spaces
- A current driver’s abstract
- An up-to-date eye exam
- Strong English communication skills
- Ability to complete logs, inspections, daily paperwork, and basic reporting
- Clean and professional appearance
- Comfort working with deceased animals of all species
- Comfort with strong odours, physical labour, and outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and stay productive with minimal supervision
- Professional attitude when dealing with clients, farms, veterinarians, and staff
Strong Assets
The following experience would be considered an asset:
- Landscaping experience
- Farm experience
- Loader or tractor experience
- Equipment operation
- Basic automotive or mechanical repair skills
- Trailer hauling experience
- Site maintenance experience
- Experience working around livestock or horses
- Experience in a physically demanding outdoor role
- Customer service experience, especially in sensitive or emotional situations
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Picking up and transporting deceased animals safely, respectfully, and professionally
- Driving trucks and trailers to farms, clinics, private properties, and job sites
- Backing trailers into farms, laneways, barns, driveways, and tight spaces
- Communicating professionally with clients during emotional situations
- Coordinating with the office regarding schedules, changes, delays, and job details
- Completing daily inspections, activity logs, safety logs, and required paperwork
- Loading, unloading, cleaning, sanitizing, and assisting outside the truck
- Cleaning and sanitizing trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment
- Keeping trucks, trailers, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and presentable
- Assisting with farm work, property maintenance, and facility organization during non-driving hours
- Assisting with repairs, maintenance, and general labour as needed
- Participating in environmental projects such as tree planting and conservation work when required
- Representing Barn Angels in a respectful, professional, and compassionate manner at all times
Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow, mud, and changing weather conditions
- Stand, walk, bend, lift, pull, push, and perform physical labour throughout the day
- Load, unload, clean, sanitize, and assist with hands-on work
- Work around deceased animals, strong odours, farm environments, and outdoor job sites
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance while performing physical work
Customer-Facing Expectations
This position involves direct contact with clients, farms, veterinarians, and property owners.
The successful applicant must be able to handle emotional situations with professionalism and compassion. Many of our clients are saying goodbye to animals they loved deeply, and we expect every member of our team to treat each situation with dignity and respect.
Applicants must be comfortable speaking with clients, following instructions, answering basic questions, and knowing when to direct clients back to the office for further support.

- Full-time, permanent position
- Monday to Friday
- In person, on the road, and on the farm as needed
- Weekend emergency coverage required as part of an on-call rotation
- One weekend per month on call
- Flexibility may be required based on emergency calls, weather, farm access, and service needs
