OVERVIEW:
Pickering College is an independent day boarding school in Newmarket, Ontario. We are a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 school, and our co-educational environment and holistic approach ensure that each student’s unique talents—academic, artistic, athletic, and altruistic—are nurtured. Pickering College is not just a school; it is a community.
We are looking for a part time to full time (seasonally dependant on the demands of the business) Sales Associate for our Hilltop Shop. Responsibilities include sales, customer service, inventory receiving and tracking, product knowledge and data entry. We are seeking candidates who are friendly and easily build rapport with clients, and who have previous retail and customer service experience and knowledge of the Pickering College uniform preferred. You are flexible with schedules, quick learner, organized, responsible, take initiative and are physically able to pack, move and carry boxes and merchandise.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· To provide exceptional customer experiences by identifying client needs
· To be an expert with the Uniform and understand the Uniform Expectations for all students and occasions
· To be knowledgeable in all departments, able to assist clients in all areas as required
· Be proficient in basic operations of the POS system to be able to efficiently process cash, account and credit card sale and return transactions
· To execute daily store tasks, visual merchandise plans and housekeeping duties in a timely and efficient manner
· To work independently and as a part of a team
· To be results driven to meet sales targets as assigned – being mindful of our student customers and the expectations of parents
· To build productive trust relationships with all clients
· To comply and apply inventory control and loss prevention procedures
· To assist in executing physical inventory procedures twice annually
- Complete all tasks following safe work practices
- Other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 – 3 years retail or sales experience required
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong computer skills required – EXCEL, POS systems, inventory management etc.
- Self-motivated, ability and willingness to take ownership and initiative
- Work well with minimal supervision
- Ability to work in a team environment
· Able to lift and carry up to 15 kgs
· Comfortable climbing a ladder while handling merchandise using safe ladder practices

Hourly rate for this role is $20.00 - $22.00
