Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Railcar Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining railcars to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation across our fleet. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and proficiency with hand and power tools, enabling them to perform precise repairs and routine maintenance tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to safety standards and operational excellence within a dynamic transportation environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough inspections of railcars to identify mechanical issues, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.
Perform repairs on various railcar components, including braking systems, wheelsets, couplers, and structural elements.
Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively to disassemble, repair, and reassemble railcar parts.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used for compliance and tracking purposes.
Troubleshoot mechanical problems efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness.
Follow safety protocols rigorously during all maintenance procedures to uphold workplace safety standards.
Assist in preventive maintenance programs by performing routine checks and servicing as scheduled.
Collaborate with team members to prioritize repair tasks and coordinate work schedules for maximum efficiency.

Requirements

Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in railcar or heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
Proficiency in using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and hammers.
Experience operating power tools including drills, grinders, impact wrenches, and pneumatic tools.
Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics accurately.
Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Pay: $30.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
