Full job description

Toronto Standard is looking for a hands-on Marketing Manager, Events & Content to lead event marketing and execution, podcast production, social media, and project-related video content.

Toronto Standard is a developer, builder, and long-term owner of rental housing in Toronto. We focus on missing middle to midrise buildings that strengthen neighbourhoods and provide high-quality homes for young professionals, families, and downsizers. As we grow, events and content help us bring the industry together, share what we are learning, and build awareness around the projects and ideas shaping Toronto’s housing future.

This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of two growing industry events, help shape an emerging podcast and content platform, and document real projects as they move from acquisition through construction and completion. Events will be the role’s largest individual projects, particularly in the months leading up to each event. Throughout the rest of the year, the role will focus more consistently on podcast production, project-related video content, social media, and marketing analysis.

What You'll DoEvents

You’ll take the lead on planning, marketing, and executing Toronto Standard’s events, including:

The Missing Middle Summit, a one-day annual event for approximately 300 people, which will enter its fifth year in 2027
The inaugural Toronto Rental Investment Summit, a half-day event launching in November 2026 for approximately 200 people
Smaller events for prospective and existing investors associated with Toronto Standard projects

You’ll manage the details required to make these events run well: timelines, venues, speakers, sponsors, vendors, event marketing and promotion, ticket sales, registration, catering, AV, signage, communications, run-of-show, and on-site execution.

You’ll own the process from early planning through post-event follow-up, keep the moving pieces organized, and make sure the right details get attention at the right time.

Podcast & Video

You’ll manage the production of Hogtown, Toronto Standard’s podcast, including:

Guest scheduling and recording coordination
Recording in Riverside and related tools
Editing podcast audio and video
Uploading and publishing full audio and video episodes across YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Substack
Producing and publishing short clips across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts

You’ll also produce short videos documenting Toronto Standard projects from acquisition and construction through completion.

This includes coordinating shoots, filming straightforward content, organizing footage, and completing short-form edits. The emphasis is on producing clear, useful content consistently, not high-end commercial production.

Social Media & Marketing

You’ll also plan and publish social content, promote events and drive ticket sales, track performance across the company’s marketing channels, and prepare simple reports on what is working.

What We're Looking For

We care more about how you operate and what you can do than whether you come from a particular background.

You’ll likely be successful here if you:

Have hands-on experience planning and executing events
Are exceptionally organized, manage multiple deadlines well, and stay calm when things get busy
Take ownership, adapt as priorities evolve, and follow work through without frequent supervision
Are highly comfortable with tools like Google Sheets, Google Drive, Slack, and ChatGPT, and can learn new software independently
Have hands-on interest or experience in podcast, video, and social media production
Communicate professionally with speakers, attendees, vendors, and colleagues
Write clearly and have strong attention to detail
Are willing to handle both visible projects and the practical details behind them

Experience in events, media, marketing, hospitality, real estate, an agency, or a startup could all be relevant.

Approximately 3-7 years of relevant experience would be helpful, but demonstrated ability matters more to us than a specific number of years.

Toronto Standard is a small, entrepreneurial company where people have meaningful responsibility and the ability to shape how things are done.

We’ll give you clear goals, but you’ll often be responsible for building the plan, organizing the details, and moving the work forward. Priorities can evolve, so good judgment, adaptability, and comfort with ambiguity are important.

We use ChatGPT and other AI tools in our day-to-day work, and we expect everyone on the team to keep learning how to use them well.

Compensation

$65,000–$75,000 per year, depending on experience.
3 weeks paid vacation

Location

We’re located in the Junction in the west end of Toronto. This is a full-time, in-person position based at our office. The role also involves project-site visits and occasional evening work around events.

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
