Position Summary
We are seeking a Junior Dispatcher to join our team. The Junior Dispatcher will support the coordination of daily deliveries of reinforcing steel (rebar) to construction sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This role is responsible for assisting with scheduling, dispatching, monitoring deliveries, communicating with drivers and customers, and responding to changing site conditions to help ensure safe, accurate, and on-time deliveries.
Working alongside our dispatch, operations, and yard teams, the successful candidate will play an important role in supporting day-to-day logistics in a fast-paced construction environment where priorities can change quickly.
This position is ideal for candidates looking to build a long-term career in logistics, transportation, dispatching, or construction operations.
Please note: Mansteel Rebar Ltd. does not require Canadian work experience as part of its hiring criteria.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with scheduling and dispatching daily reinforcing steel deliveries throughout the GTA
- Communicate with drivers regarding routes, delivery instructions, job site requirements, and schedule changes
- Monitor delivery progress and provide real-time updates to customers, project managers, and internal departments
- Coordinate with yard personnel to ensure orders are loaded accurately and dispatched on schedule
- Respond to delivery issues, delays, weather conditions, crane availability, and changing construction site requirements
- Maintain accurate delivery records, dispatch logs, proof of delivery documentation, and customer information
- Support senior dispatchers with urgent deliveries, priority scheduling, and operational planning
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, drivers, and field personnel
- Utilize dispatch software, GPS tracking, Microsoft Office, and digital communication tools to support daily operations
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance delivery efficiency and customer service
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in dispatching, transportation, logistics, customer service, or construction is considered an asset
- Experience working in a fast-paced construction or transportation environment is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy under pressure
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Comfortable learning new software, digital dispatch systems, GPS tracking platforms, and technology-based workflows
- Experience with flatbed transportation (driving or dispatching) is a strong asset
- Experience coordinating or working with over-dimensional (OD) loads is considered an asset
- Familiarity with reinforcing steel, construction materials, or the construction industry is preferred
