Who We Are: Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Services (KKCFSS) is a non-profit Indigenous Child and Family Service Agency governed by a Board of Directors represented by ʔakisqnuk, ʔaqam, yaqan nuʔkiy (Lower Kootenay Band), yaqit ʔa·knuqⱡiʾit (Tobacco Plains Band), Shuswap Band and the Métis Nation BC. KKCFSS programs and services are available to Ktunaxa citizens, First Nations, Métis and Inuit living on and off-reserve in Ktunaxa ʔamakʔis (Traditional Territory).

The Opportunity: The Early Years Support Worker is a member of the Early Years Team and provides hands-on, direct support to children and families in childcare, preschool, and community settings.

This is a temporary 10-week position, ideal for someone looking to gain experience in early childhood development, community-based work, or to contribute to meaningful service delivery over a defined period.

This is an urgent temporary position and we are seeking candidates who are available to begin work as soon as possible.

In the Role as Early Years Support Worker, You Will:

Work collaboratively with childcare staff, families, and the Early Years Team to support children’s development
Provide direct support to children in childcare, preschool, and community-based settings
Implement strategies that support inclusion, participation, and developmental growth
Support children with additional needs using culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches
Assist with routines, communication strategies, and play-based learning environments
Participate in home visits to support families and strengthen parenting capacity
Gather observations and contribute to tracking child progress
Collaborate with educators and community partners to support inclusive practices
Support families with referrals and access to services
Maintain accurate and confidential documentation
Participate in team meetings and program activities

What You Will Bring to the Role:

Certificate or diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Human Services, or a related field
Combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
Experience working with children and families is an asset
Knowledge of early childhood development and inclusive practices
Understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe approaches
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to build respectful, supportive relationships with families and partners
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Valid First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Successful Criminal Record Check
Ability to travel within the region
