Position: Pipelayer/Labourer

Job Description: Leighton Contracting, a leading civil construction company and COR certified, is seeking an experienced and motivated Pipelayer/Labor to join our team in Courtenay, BC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil construction, with at least 2 years of experience and the ability to use pipe lasers effectively. This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, being a team player, and adhering to safety standards. Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge of codes and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Install utilities accurately using pipe lasers and other relevant tools.
Perform various labor tasks associated with pipeline installation and civil construction projects.
Ensure all work is completed according to relevant codes and specifications.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective project completion.
Lead and mentor less experienced team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Maintain a high level of safety on the job site, following all company and regulatory guidelines.
Self-start and manage tasks independently while contributing to team goals.
Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
Take direction from supervisors and work closely with the crew.
Have experience using cut off saws, packers, and general hand tools.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil construction, specifically in pipelaying.
Proficiency in using pipe lasers and related equipment.
Ability to lead, mentor, and work effectively as part of a team.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
Strong understanding of safety practices in construction environments.
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
Willingness to learn and grow within the company.
Ability to read plans and grade stakes.
