Pack of Paws Liberty Village is looking for a caring, dependable dog lover to join our small, close-knit team.
We provide a structured, closely supervised daycare environment with a strong focus on understanding dogs, their behaviour, communication, and individual needs. Our goal is to create a safe, calm, and enriching environment where dogs can thrive while helping our team develop a deeper understanding of canine behaviour and group dynamics.
About the Role
This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with dogs and wants to continue developing their knowledge of canine behaviour, communication, and training principles.
Successful candidates are calm, observant, and confident around groups of dogs. You should be comfortable maintaining structure, recognizing body language, and supporting safe, positive interactions between dogs. We are looking for someone who can enter a group of dogs with a calm, relaxed presence and help create a balanced environment through consistent supervision and leadership.
This position offers valuable hands-on experience in a setting that emphasizes canine communication, routine, structure, and proactive management of group dynamics.
Responsibilities Include
- Supervising dog play groups in a structured daycare setting
- Providing calm, confident, and consistent leadership to support safe group interactions
- Observing and responding appropriately to dog body language and behaviour
- Recognizing when play is becoming overstimulated and intervening when necessary
- Guiding dogs using clear expectations, routine, and consistent handling practices
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary facility
- Monitoring the safety and well-being of all dogs in your care
- Communicating in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner with clients
- Working independently while also collaborating effectively with team members
What We're Looking For
- Previous professional experience working with dogs is strongly preferred
- We also welcome applicants who have extensive personal experience raising, training, and caring for their own dogs and can demonstrate a strong understanding of canine behaviour and body language
- Strong knowledge of dog behaviour, communication, and group dynamics
- Ability to recognize signs of stress, overstimulation, or escalating play
- Comfortable managing multiple dogs of varying sizes, temperaments, and energy levels
- Calm, patient, and confident around dogs
- Reliable, attentive to detail, and able to follow directions
- Professional, friendly, and respectful when interacting with clients and coworkers
- Physically fit and able to be on your feet for extended periods
Schedule & Training
- Shifts between 7:00 AM and 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday
- Starting at 10–15 hours per week, with opportunity for additional hours as the role grows
- Minimum availability of 20 hours per week required
- Extensive training provided
