Full job description

Construction company based in Fort St. John, BC is seeking a LOCAL, highly skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing the financial records of our companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting regulations. This is a key role in our organization, and we are looking for someone who is detail-oriented and organized. This position will be responsible for bookkeeping for multiple companies.

Responsibilities:

Maintain complete set of books for each company using Quick Books
Payroll – processed through ADP
Accounts Receivable
Accounts Payable – mostly oversee AP
Reconcile Bank Statements
Prepare Month-End Financial Statements
Provide Year-End documentation to the accountant
Compile, enter and post adjusting journal entries
Reconcile GL accounts
Manage cash flows
Prepare all tax remittances - GST, PST, EHT, WCB, T5018s and any other required government reporting
Maintain fixed asset schedule & amortization calculations
Maintain the company benefit program
Oversee the accounting team and help out as needed
Maintain and organize the accounting filing system – digital and physical
Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports as required
Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years full-cycle bookkeeping experience required
Experience in a construction environment preferable
Be able to work independently and take responsibility for all assigned tasks
Ability to multi-task in a fast past environment and to prioritize effectively
Perfect verbal and written communication skills
Experience with computerized accounting software – preferably Quick Books
Be advanced with Microsoft Office products
Advanced excel experience, able to produce all kinds of reporting
Experience processing payroll through to T4s
Be the key point of contact for all accounting related matters
Post secondary education in accounting or bookkeeping required
Hands-on, able to learn quickly and work under pressure
Overtime may be required at times
