Magna Mining’s key objective is to become the next nickel and copper producing company in Canada by executing a growth strategy that is focused exclusively on the historic nickel producing district of Sudbury, ON.
We intend to achieve this objective via the creation of a Sudbury focused, hub and spoke production model, with our existing Shakespeare project as the hub. The path to the creation of a significant new battery metals producing Canadian company is to execute a long term, multi-faceted growth strategy.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT)

Support the development of short- and long-term mine plans and production schedules.

Assist with underground mine designs, layouts, ventilation systems, and other technical requirements.

Use mine planning and design software to create and maintain mine models, plans, and schedules.

Assist with the monitoring of production performance, costs, schedules, and operational targets.

Work collaboratively with engineering, geology, operations, and other departments to support mining activities.

Prepare technical reports, documentation, and engineering records.

Participate in engineering projects, site inspections, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
Engineer, Mining

Develop and maintain short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans and production schedules.

Design underground mine layouts, development, stopes, ventilation systems, and supporting infrastructure.

Provide technical engineering support to operations and assist in resolving operational challenges.

Monitor and analyze mine performance to identify opportunities to improve safety, productivity, efficiency, and cost performance.

Support drill and blast design, ground support, ventilation planning, and other technical aspects of underground mining.

Participate in engineering projects, risk assessments, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure mine plans are effectively executed.
Senior Engineer, Mining

Develop, review, and optimize short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans and designs.

Provide technical leadership in mine planning, design, scheduling, drill and blast, and operational optimization.

Analyze mine performance and recommend improvements to safety, productivity, recovery, and cost performance.

Provide technical guidance to operations to support the achievement of production and business objectives.

Contribute technical expertise to mine development projects, capital projects, studies, budgets, and forecasts.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and other technical team members.

Ensure engineering plans and activities meet applicable regulatory, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
Chief Mine Engineer

Lead mine engineering, planning, and design activities in support of safe and efficient underground operations.

Oversee the development and execution of short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans.

Ensure technical considerations are effectively integrated into mine designs, stope designs, schedules, and operational plans.

Provide technical and operational leadership to support mine development and production objectives.

Oversee engineering projects, budgets, schedules, resources, and performance.

Collaborate with operations, geology, maintenance, and other departments to align engineering activities with operational and business priorities.

Lead, mentor, and develop engineering and technical services team members.

Ensure engineering activities, designs, and plans comply with applicable regulatory, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents

Post-secondary education in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

Registration or eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) at the appropriate level for the position.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
1+ year of mine engineering experience, preferably within underground mining operations.
Engineer, Mining
3+ years of experience in underground mining operations or mine planning.
Senior Engineer, Mining
7+ years of mine engineering experience, with a focus on underground mining operations.
Chief Mine Engineer
8+ years of underground mine engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
