Job Summary:

We are seeking a responsible and dedicated High School Math Tutor for the 2026-2027 school year to inspire and support students in mastering mathematical concepts. This independent contractor position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic journeys. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching, strong math skills, and experience working with students, creating an engaging learning environment that encourages growth and success.

Responsibilities:

Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions focused on high school-level math courses: Grade 9 (De-streamed), Grade 10 (Applied/Academic), Grade 11 (College/Mixed/University), Grade 12 (College/University). Ability to tutor Grade 12 Data Management and/or Grade 12 Calculus & Vectors is considered a strong asset
Assess students’ current understanding and tailor sessions to meet their individual learning needs
Use effective teaching strategies to explain complex concepts clearly and confidently
Track student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to students and parents or guardians
Create a positive, motivating atmosphere that encourages student engagement, curiosity, and perseverance

Requirements:

Experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably as a tutor, teacher, leader, counsellor, or mentor
Strong background in mathematics at the high school level or higher, with the ability to explain concepts clearly
Previous classroom experience or familiarity with teaching methods is highly desirable
Excellent communication skills and patience to support diverse learning styles
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with video conferencing software (Zoom) and online learning tools
Knowledge of special education strategies is a plus for supporting students with unique learning needs
