Position Overview:
At HLD Muskoka, we’re looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator who takes real pride in their work and enjoys being part of a team that values quality and craftsmanship. Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for operating a variety of small & heavy equipment: backhoe, excavators, loaders, bulldozer, front end loader, skid steer, roller, etc. for mass excavation, rock placement, fine grading, and utility trenching.
· Execute excavation and grading site plans with minimal staking.
· Perform a variety of tasks which include: shoveling, pipe laying, fine grading and finishing, landscaping, sloping and banking, backfilling, ditching, excavation, rough grading, stumping, sub-grade excavating, trenching, material handling and slope grooming
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
- Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner. Collect and dispose of scrap, excess materials, and refuse
- Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
- Advise the mechanics of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
- Participate in routine maintenance
- Maintain a professional, discreet presence on high-end residential job sites, ensuring cleanliness and respect for client properties.
- Collaborate with the Civil Superintendent to plan and sequence work efficiently while upholding strict safety standards, including all ground disturbance protocols.
· Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Work exceptionally within a team
· Ability to work within tight timelines
- Operate heavy equipment safely and to minimize the risk of injury or property damage
- Knowledge of and ability to operate a variety of pieces of heavy equipment efficiently and with precision
- Knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques
- Ability to read and write to complete and maintain daily operating and safety records
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Strong verbal and listening skills
- Time management skills
- ability to identify and prevent equipment issues proactively.
- Reliable, honest and trustworthy with a positive attitude
Qualifications:
· 5 years experience running heavy equipment required
· 5 years of experience in heavy civil construction or high-end residential projects.
· Ability to read and interpret site plans and Topographical drawings
· Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is established based on market benchmarks and internal equity. Compensation will be determined based on qualifications and experience and communicated with the successful candidate upon the final offer within this range. It will not be disclosed publicly the wage brackets of our team to respect and uphold the privacy of our employees under the PIPEDA (Personal information Protection and Electronic Documents Act)
