Purpose:
Supervises resources and performs in one or all of the following areas: Product Development, Product Specials, Quotes, Specification Drawings, and Programming.
Responsibilities:
· Researches improvements in use of materials and processes for production or sub-contracting of new and existing product and uncovers new sources of supply for new or alternative materials or processes.
· Pursues and maintains regulatory standards with national and local code authorities, i.e., Underwriter Laboratories, C.S.A., BIFMA, in conjunction with the Manager.
· Overall responsibility for all products manufactured. This includes structural integrity, efficient processes, specification of hardware, other purchased parts, packing, installation instructions, jigs and fixtures, to support manufacturing activities.
· Supervises sub-departmental resources and delegate work accordingly
· Provides work schedules within the department and set the direction for each project.
· Coaches and mentors junior staff members on engineering procedures and techniques
· Tracks and signs-off on employee vacation and absences
· Tracks and signs-off on employee overtime
· Ensures team is following Engineering ISO procedures and policies
· Tracks internal reports – ie: QA, QC, etc.
· Engineer new product designs and custom specials using Solidworks
· Oversees tooling – type and design.
· Co-ordinates engineering changes with inventory control, planning and production.
· Creates part and assembly drawings
· Generates bills of materials and configure items in an MRP system
· Generates new or custom product cost estimates in Excel & Word
· Provides customer layouts and product specifications
· Develops and source new hardware as required
· Prototyping and product standards testing
· Trouble shooting production issues
· Productivity improvement and cost savings projects
· ECN and Deviation support
Qualifications:
· Requires a Woodworking Technologist or Mechanical Engineering Technician diploma or equivalent.
· Experience and knowledge in flat panel processing.
· Proficient in the use of Solidworks and drafting techniques.
General knowledge of MRP manufacturing computer systems or equivalent production-type software.
· 5 years of experience in a similar role or displays proficiency supervising a team
· Experience within a woodworking environment
· Experience with metal, aluminum extrusions, die cast parts and assemblies is an asset
· Experience with Inventor or Solidworks is an asset
Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
