Job Types: Temporary Full-Time for 8 to 12 weeks

Community Living Cambridge (CLC) is a non-profit organization that partners with individuals who have developmental disabilities and their community to live fulfilling lives. Community Living Cambridge supports over 400 individuals with a developmental disability with independent or group living, day support, recreation, assistance with employment and community support.

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Maintenance & Operations the Maintenance Worker performs a variety of duties towards the overall upkeep of group homes, CLC facilities. This position requires working in the homes of individuals with development disabilities. The Maintenance Worker must respect the rights, confidentiality and dignity of each individual in keeping with the policies, mission and value statements of CLC.

DESCRIPTION OF CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform preventative maintenance on homes and buildings including but not limited to: skilled carpentry, painting, plastering, dry walling, door hardware, and general household maintenance. maintenance issues to Maintenance Lead and Associate Director of Operations and

· Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs inside and out, report any perform corrective maintenance as required.

· Move and relocate furniture, appliances and office equipment.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Uphold confidentiality of all individuals.

FORMAL EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

· Must have a minimum of Grade 12 education with some education and/or training in building trades.

· Must have a valid G driver’s license and able to drive with a trailer in tow.

· Must be able to provide an acceptable vulnerable sector check

· Knowledge of methods, practices and equipment used in facilities management and activities including a variety of building trades work is preferred

· Must have thorough working knowledge and experience with tools and equipment used in building maintenance, reconstruction, and repair work.

· Must have good working knowledge of safe work practices, occupational hazards and necessary precautions applicable to building and mechanical maintenance work.

· Ability to identify maintenance needs, prioritize work and take corrective actions.

. Ability to work within a team environment.

· Be a self-starter and work independently in the absence of Team Lead and/or Associate Director.

· Lift up to 50 pounds above the waist and carry heavy objects.

· Use a personal computer, tablet and appropriate computer software.

· Operate with a high level of personal organization

· Establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

· Meet daily with maintenance team for assigned work and follow up

· Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Must be able to wear a surgical mask all day.

· Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working at heights.

· Must be able to perform the essential duties of the job.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES: Valid driver’s license, Safe handling and training of power tools

BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES: Problem solving, Initiative, Interpersonal Relations & Respect,

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday and Flexible to work weekends.
