Our work spans erosion and sediment control, environmental monitoring, traffic control and flagging, civil site preparation, underground utilities, roadwork maintenance, construction cleaning, snow removal, surveying, and geomatics support. We also provide site facilities, equipment rentals, PPE safety supplies, and cultural safety programming—allowing us to support projects from early planning through to completion.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the Traffic Control Person (TCP) is responsible for safely directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic in accordance with BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) guidelines and WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. The TCP plays a critical role in maintaining safe work zones on active construction and maintenance sites.
This position involves implementing approved Traffic Management Plans, setting up and removing traffic control devices, and monitoring traffic flow and site conditions throughout the shift. The TCP communicates clearly with the Site Supervisor, equipment operators, and the public to address hazards, changing site conditions, and traffic disruptions.
A strong commitment to safety, situational awareness, and regulatory compliance is essential. The TCP must remain alert at all times, follow established procedures, and take immediate action to prevent unsafe conditions, ensuring the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians.
Location: Vancouver, Project Based Sites
Hours: 10-12hrs per day / 50-60hrs per week
Salary Range: $21.00 - $25.00 (Hourly); $42,000 – $50,000 (Annually)

Key Responsibilities
- Safely direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic in accordance with BC Ministry of Transportation (MoTI) guidelines and WorkSafeBC regulations
- Implement approved Traffic Management Plans and follow site-specific traffic control procedures
- Set up, adjust, and remove traffic control devices including cones, barricades, signage, and delineators
- Maintain continuous situational awareness of traffic flow, equipment movement, and changing site conditions
- Communicate clearly and professionally with Site Supervisors, crew members, equipment operators, and the public
- Identify and report hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately
- Support general site activities or light labour tasks when required and safe to do so
- Represent Stamsh in a professional, respectful, and safety-focused manner at all times
Skills
- Clear verbal communication and confident use of hand signals
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures consistently
- Ability to remain calm, alert, and decisive in fast-moving environments
- Basic understanding of traffic control layouts and work zone safety
- Time management and reliability across varying schedules and locations
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-based site culture
Qualifications
- Valid BC Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification
- New entrants accepted: Stamsh will provide training for suitable candidates
- Willingness to commit to a minimum number of work hours following employer-paid training
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence and access to reliable transportation considered an asset
- Previous traffic control or construction experience is an asset, but not required

Conditions of Employment
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold)
- Capacity to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions such as holding a traffic paddle
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to approximately 30 lbs to 50 lbs
- Use of required PPE including high-visibility apparel, hard hat, safety footwear, and traffic control equipment
- Work hours may vary and can include early mornings, extended shifts, weekends, or overtime based on project needs
