Full job description

Majors Contracting Ltd. is seeking an experienced, motivated, and safety-focused Construction Supervisor to oversee a variety of civil construction projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily construction activities on assigned projects.
Lead and mentor field crews while promoting a strong safety culture.
Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies, client specifications, and Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
Plan daily work activities and coordinate labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
Monitor project schedules and productivity to ensure work progresses efficiently.
Conduct daily toolbox meetings, site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits.
Maintain accurate daily reports, timesheets, production records, and project documentation.
Coordinate equipment maintenance and communicate equipment requirements with management.
Ensure quality control standards are met throughout all phases of construction.
Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, consultants, and regulatory representatives.
Assist with project mobilization, demobilization, scheduling, and resource planning.
Ensure environmental protection measures and permit requirements are followed at all times.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience supervising civil construction projects.
Experience with bridge construction and rehabilitation, road construction, culvert installations, earthworks, grading, and other heavy civil construction activities.
Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, and industry best practices.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing crews in remote and outdoor work environments.
Excellent knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and safe work practices.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Experience operating or coordinating heavy equipment is considered an asset.
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (Class 3 or Class 1 licence considered an asset).
Current First Aid, WHMIS, Traffic Control, Fall Protection, and other industry certifications are considered assets.
Willingness to travel and work rotational schedules throughout Newfoundland and Labrador in varying weather conditions.
