McTavish Academy of Art is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and organized Art Instructor to join our growing team. We are looking for someone with experience in a variety of artistic mediums, particularly watercolours, acrylics, printmaking and crafting, who enjoys sharing their knowledge with students of all ages.
This position will focus primarily on teaching adult classes, workshops, and special programs, with occasional opportunities to teach children's and youth programs.
Position Details
- Position: Art Instructor
- Location: McTavish Academy of Art
- Compensation: $24.00–$27.00 per hour (based on experience)
- Schedule: Flexible; hours and teaching schedule to be determined based on program offerings and instructor availability
- Employment Type: Part-time - Full time / Contract opportunities available
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging art classes and workshops for adults and youth
- Teach a variety of mediums including:
- Watercolour painting
- Acrylic painting
- Mixed media
- Craft-based projects
- Other artistic mediums based on your expertise
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
- Prepare class materials and maintain an organized teaching space
- Assist with program development and new class ideas
- Work collaboratively with fellow instructors and staff
- Support studio events, workshops, and community programming as needed
Qualifications
- Experience creating and teaching art in multiple mediums
- Strong skills in watercolour and acrylic painting
- Interest and experience in crafting and creative projects
- Comfortable teaching beginner to intermediate students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organized, reliable, and self-motivated
- Positive attitude and ability to work well within a team environment
- Experience teaching adults is preferred
- Experience working with children and youth is an asset
