Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. This position offers hands-on training and the opportunity to develop specialized skills in maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess strong mechanical aptitude, and have a passion for working with heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery. This role provides a foundation for a rewarding career in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.

Duties

Assist experienced mechanics in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and vehicles
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections
Learn to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pnematic system issues
Assist in repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension and hydraulic coomponents
Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools safely and effectively
Support the assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems
Conduct basic electrical repairs on industrial equipment under supervision
Participate in heavy lifting tasks and operate heavy equipment as part of training
Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure safety compliance
Follow safety protocols diligently during all repair and maintenance activities
Communicate with customers and suppliers and prepare quotations

Skills

Registered as a Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice
Skilled trade schooling completed
Mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in heavy equipment repair
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and schematics
Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, forklifts, trucks, trailers or agricultural equipment a must
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments
Good communication skills with a focus on customer service when interacting with team members or clients
Willingness to learn electrical systems related to industrial equipment and automotive repair techniques

This Heavy Equipment Mechanic Apprentice position offers valuable training opportunities for individuals passionate about mechanical work and heavy machinery.
