This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of preconstruction on our commercial team — and to become the trusted partner our clients rely on.
At Red Deer Carpet One, our purpose is simple: To enrich the lives of people—our team, our customers, and our community—by enhancing the spaces where they live, work, shop, and play.
Our commercial team has built its reputation on a simple belief: our clients’ projects are our projects. We succeed when they succeed. When an installation runs smoothly, on time, and without surprises, everyone wins. This role exists to uphold that standard.
We are looking for someone who can read a set of drawings and read a project just as well. Someone who gets the details right and looks ahead to what a client will need so their installation lands smoothly, on time, and is stress-free.
The Role
This is a hands-on estimating role with real ownership. You will guide our commercial work from the first set of drawings through to a clean, well-planned handoff to our installation team — and become a trusted partner to the clients who count on us.
Most of the value you create won’t be in the math (though the math has to be right). It will be in your foresight: seeing what a project will need before it becomes a problem, smoothing the path for the client, and turning work around with care and speed that makes us easy to build with. Over time, you become the person our clients ask for by name.
What You'll Do
Estimating & Foresight (Primary Responsibility)
- Complete detailed take-offs and build accurate, competitive pricing
- Look ahead to what a project will need, so installations run smoothly, on time, and without surprises for the client
- Think through the whole job — not just the parts on the page — so nothing gets missed
- Turn estimates around quickly, with the kind of responsiveness clients remember
Setting Projects Up to Succeed
- Handle the planning and coordination that turn a quote into a project that’s ready to build
- Keep the details organized so the right materials, timing, and information are all in place
- Make sure our installation team has everything they need to do great work
Client Partnership
- Be a genuine partner to the clients and project teams you work with — the steady, reliable person they trust
- Take the time to understand each client’s priorities and what “a job done right” means to them
- Communicate clearly and proactively, so clients are never left wondering where things stand
- Collaborate closely on selections and solutions, bringing ideas that make their projects better
- Earn the kind of trust that makes clients want to work with us again, project after project
Building Depth (Growth Area)
- Share how you work, so our team gets stronger, and the function is never one person deep
- Mentor a developing teammate coming up behind you
- Grow into our most complex and highest-stakes projects
Your Team and Environment
You’ll work alongside our commercial execution lead and a project coordinator, as part of a small, sharp team that takes real pride in doing right by our clients (yes, we’re the kind of people who get a little too excited about a perfectly executed seam).
You’ll be the primary owner of preconstruction, which means both an eye for the fine details and the ability to step back and see the whole project and the client clearly.
Who You Are
- Experience in estimating commercial work
- A natural relationship builder
- You treat every client with urgency — because they have a choice, and we earn it every time.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable owning your work and staying steady under deadline pressure
- A genuine soft spot for beautiful flooring helps (you’ll be surrounded by it)
What Matters Here
Our values guide how we work every day:
- Teachable – You are always learning, open to feedback, and actively looking for better ways to do things.
- Initiative – You take ownership, solve problems, and step in where needed without being asked.
- Grateful – You bring a positive perspective, recognize others, and appreciate the opportunity in the work.
- Engaged – You participate fully, take pride in your work, and contribute to the team around you.
- Resilient – You stay steady through challenges, adapt, and follow through.
The Opportunity
This is a long-term role with real growth — but not the kind that means climbing away from the work. Here, you grow by going deeper: owning more, mentoring others, taking on our most complex projects, and becoming the trusted name our clients reach for. For the right person, this is a place to build a career, not just a line on a résumé.
How the Role Pays
We built this role for someone who is confident that their work will speak for itself. You’ll start from a steady base, with meaningful performance earnings layered on top — when the projects you manage run well and our clients are well served, you share in that success. This is a role where doing great work and being rewarded for it go hand in hand. We’re glad to walk strong candidates through the full earning structure.
