Position Overview
The Service Navigator plays a critical role within Selections’ Leduc Resource Centre by supporting clients with multiple employment and life-stability barriers. This role focuses on coordinating wraparound services, conducting assessments, and ensuring clients are connected to the right supports at the right time. Service Navigators help clients stabilize key areas of life so they can meaningfully engage in employment and workforce development services.
This position works closely with Career Development Specialists, Job Development Specialists, and community partners to deliver client-centered, trauma-informed support. Regular travel within Leduc, Nisku, rural Leduc County, and Edmonton-based partner sites is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Employment Readiness Assessments (ERA) to determine client suitability for Stream 1 and Stream 2 services.
- Support clients in achieving life stability by coordinating access to housing, income supports, mental health services, childcare, transportation, food security, and other essential needs.
- Develop and maintain individualized Service Plans in collaboration with clients, updating plans as circumstances change.
- Make timely referrals to community agencies and follow up to ensure services are accessed and effective.
- Monitor client progress, barriers, and engagement, providing regular check-ins and problem-solving support.
- Collaborate with Selections staff to ensure seamless transitions between stabilization, pre-employment, and employment services.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date case notes and documentation in internal and provincial databases (e.g., Compass).
- Participate in case conferencing, team meetings, and service planning discussions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners across Leduc, Nisku, and surrounding rural areas.
Qualifications
- Experience providing wraparound supports and referrals to community resources, supported by relevant education such as a Diploma or Certificate in Community Development, Career Development Practitioner, Social Services, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience conducting Employment Readiness Assessments (ERA) and supporting clients through assessment and planning processes.
- Strong knowledge of Leduc/Nisku and surrounding community resources and services.
- Experience in client case management and documentation; proficiency with Compass or similar systems is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals facing complex employment and life barriers using a trauma-informed, client-centered approach.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn internal databases and reporting systems.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work primarily from the Leduc office with regular community-based outreach.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
- Criminal Record Check (and Child Intervention Check if applicable).
