We spend our day with one awesome 30-year-old woman named Kilee. Her day consists of programming, either within the house or out in the community, leisure, and scheduled activities. Activities include: academics, yoga, music therapy, art therapy, equine therapy, outdoor adventures, crafts, trips to the pool, aquarium and any other fun place you can think of.
If your idea of a dream job is spending your day colouring, crafting, hiking, swimming, cooking, dancing, or beading, Kilee’s House is the place for you. Kilee is an avid karaoke singer, loves to spend time outdoors and in water, and is always eager to try out a new recipe.
We are an private residential Applied Behaviour Analysis teaching home. We are an inclusive, supportive, and fun team looking to add another person or two to our roster. We provide regular raises, development opportunities and incentives as well as room to grow and expand within your role. Experience is an asset but not required as we are happy to provide thorough training for the right individual. Above all else we are looking for committed people who want to make a difference in their own life and in someone else's.
Background:
Kilee’s program came to be 20+ years ago. In this time, Kilee has gone from being completely non-verbal to speaking hundreds of words, singing with her friends, and verbally requesting things that she needs. She is able to safely integrate into her community and have the same experiences as anyone else her age. This is all thanks to the therapists that work with Kilee daily.
Not only have Kilee’s skills and quality of life greatly increased, but the therapists that work with her gain many valuable skills as well. Many use this job as a steppingstone into a full-fledged career in this field. We will help you gain the skills you need to help many more people in your lifetime and more importantly to achieve personal, emotional and intellectual growth. In most cases we provide therapists with glowing references for future endeavours so that they can go on to help many more people.
We are training people to be behaviour interventionists - ie. therapists that work with people to increase independence and decrease challenging behaviours - but it is so much more than that. We are creating therapists that can care, nurture, and support people with intellectual disabilities and help them reach their full potential.
If you have the desire to care for someone unconditionally and have the desire to better yourself in the process, this is an ideal opportunity for you.
