Landscape Maintenance Labourer – Seasonal Hire

Job Description:

Katsura Landscaping, started up in 2006, and offers high quality fine gardening and landscape renovations, an excellent staff training program, career planning, excellent wages, health benefits, and fun company events.

We are growing yet again and are inviting skilled Landscape Maintenance Gardeners to come and enhance their career path with us. Katsura is the right place for passionate gardeners with a passion to learn, where we pay for horticulture training to work up to the Foreperson position!

Landscape Maintenance Labourer

Reports to: Foreperson

Job Duties will include:

Assisting at our yard for start and end of day tasks when requested.
All aspects of Garden and Lawn maintenance to a high ‘fine-gardening’ standard.
Move and install soil, mulch and plant material to assist with the building of landscape gardens
Tree, shrub, and plant identification and all types of pruning, planting, installing sod, lawn fertilization and other horticultural tasks as required
Adept and professional use of all common horticulture hand- and power-tools of the trade.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
Comply with all company policies, and work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations.
Communicate with customers and teammates in a friendly manner.

Requirements:

Physically fit with strong stamina
Ability to follow safe working procedures
Excellent observational skills and a strong attention to detail
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team

Assets:

· Drivers license

Work Conditions:

Job requires the ability to work with hand tools and small engine equipment, outdoors, and at times on hilly, uneven or terraced terrain.
Some materials handled daily are heavy, and require a level of fitness/strength to perform normal garden and landscape tasks, which include lifting, carrying, bending, crouching, walking, standing.
Work outdoors in various weather conditions, seasons, and around power equipment.
Work overtime when required (occasionally when needed)

Compensation:

Guaranteed Living Wage - $27.15 / hour after 3 months probation period. $23 / hour for first 3 months.
Benefits package after 3 months
We are a living wage employer, meaning we pay a minimum standard according to Living Wage BC, for Metro Vancouver
