About the Role – How you will Contribute to the Service:
Position Title: Junior Police Analytics Specialist
Employment: Continuing Full Time
We are seeking a Junior Police Analytics Specialist to help support our Police Analytics team through the maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation of codebases and internal team workflows. As a valued member of our team, you will provide clarity and consistency across the developmental and operational processes. You will be instrumental in reviewing, building, collecting, analyzing, and testing accuracy of internal documentation for all police analytics products, services and processes.

Here’s what you will get to do:
- Responsible for the maintenance of accurate and current information of Police Analytics processes/internal tools.
- Develops and documents testing strategies, executes user acceptance testing and /or provides support to test teams; resolves issues based on test results; maintains procedural documentation; investigates anomalies to find the root cause; presents findings and proposes remedial approaches.
- Confers and collaborates with Police Analytics team at regular meetings and ensures consistence in the creation of codebases and other procedural documentation.
- Creates and maintains application unit tests and process flow charts for production products which includes building databases relationships (ERD) diagrams, use case diagrams (UML) and/or process flow diagrams (PFD).
- Assists with the development and preparation of the Services’ data strategy and general business planning to enhance data-driven policing strategies.
- Queries computer databases and retrieves, evaluates and extracts information in response to requests from police and other authorized personnel.
- Collaborates with different departments to understand data needs and provide actionable insights.
- Acts as a resource for establishing best practices and standards and providing knowledge for evolving internal business processes. Investigates modifies, tests, validates, implements and contributes to the enhancements and upgrades.
- Maintains knowledge of both the routine activities at the assigned unit and keeps current on any special projects that may be underway.
What you’ll Bring to the Role:
Education:
- University degree in computer science, database management, business intelligence, or related field.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum 1 year of related experience, including practical experience developing web-based applications or tools using PHP and JavaScript, and working with SQL databases.
- Experience creating reports and dashboards in Power BI, writing SQL queries, and using Microsoft Excel for data analysis is desirable.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in both web development and data-driven decision-making.
- Willingness to learn and grow in web development and data-driven decision-making areas.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and/or ability (practical experience) in related certification, PHP Javascript, Python, and/or R.

Core Working Hours: 35 hours per week: Monday - Friday
Salary Range: $82,147 -$91,275 per annum (Effective July 1, 2026)
