Full job description

Position: Bookkeeper/Year End Preparer

Responsibilities:

· Preparing bookkeeping for clients from various industries on monthly, quarterly and annual basis including but not limited to:

o Coding and posting transactions to computerized bookkeeping software from a variety of source documents including sales invoices, daily sales sheets, vendor invoices and receipts, deposit slips, remittance advices, bank statements and credit card statements.

o Reconciliation of bank, credit card and clearing accounts

o Preparation and filing of HST Returns and HST Rebates

o Responding to client requests

o Responding to requests from government agencies

o Maintaining documentation for corporate year end preparation

o Maintaining electronic files in organized manner based on established policies and procedures

· Preparing payroll for clients on weekly, biweekly and monthly basis including but not limited to:

o Inputting hours/salary information to computerized software and/or manual payroll ledger

o Verifying payroll calculations to ensure vacation and holiday pay is properly accounted

o Providing paystubs to client

o Preparation of payroll remittances on a monthly and quarterly basis

o Preparation and filing of Records of Employment

o Responding to client requests

o Responding to requests from government agencies

o Maintaining electronic files in organized manner based on established policies and procedures

· Preparation of corporate year end files using CaseWare including but not limited to:

o Verifying account balances including banks and credit cards, analysis of discrepancies and posting of adjustments as required

o Calculation of prepaid expenses, accrued receivables and accrued payables

o Verification of capital asset additions and disposals, recording of amortization and gains/losses on disposition

o Reconciliation of loan and capital lease balances including, analysis of discrepancies and posting of adjusting entries as required

o Reconciliation of corporate tax, HST and payroll accounts to government remittances/refunds

o Preparation of HST returns as required

o Analysis of investment accounts, reconciliation to end of year balances and reconciliation of investment income to end of year T-slips

o Reconciliation of wages

· Assisting with audit testing

· Additional responsibilities as required

Skills Required:

· Strong written and verbal communication

· Maintain strict confidentiality related to client information

· Problem solving, critical thinking and reasoning

· Ability to take direction and follow instructions

· Ability to recall information

· Ability to handle competing deadlines

· Ability to work as part of a team

Attention to detail

Computer Software used:

· CaseWare with Jazz-It Templates

· Quickbooks (Desktop and Online)

· Sage (Desktop)

· Microsoft Office Suite

· Doc.It

· IFIRM

Relevant details:

· Full-time position with 35 – 37.5 hours per week

o Monday – Friday 8:30 – 5:00 (January – May)

o Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30 (June – December)

Work is mainly in office - this is not a fully remote position

· Compensation negotiable based on skill level

· Group benefit plan
