An established millwork construction company is looking for an experienced Joinery Craftsperson/Bench with skills and experience in specialty wood joinery, machining, assembly and interpretation of shop drawings. Serving the local Vancouver Island, we engage in a wide mix of commercial, retail and high-end residential work on a steady year-round basis. As we continue to grow our operation and acquire more projects across the Island, we need to add a key player to our skilled production team.
To be successful in this position you need to be an organized, dependable individual that can read detailed drawings and operate precision production equipment. To maintain established quality standards, you must have an eye for detail and proven math skills. On a daily basis you will be working with drawings and documentation describing customer provided designs that are ornate and intricate. To meet production requirements, you will need to be able to interpret requirements and produce project components to specifications.
This is a bench-oriented position requiring focused specialty skillsets working with solid wood, wood composites, prefinished panels, and occasionally veneers, to make high quality architectural millwork. Ideally you have formal training in joinery (preferably through an apprenticeship or post-secondary program) and at least 3 to 5 years of experience using joinery skills in a millwork/custom woodwork operation with a good working knowledge of architectural woodworking standards. If you have some experience setting up and operating a programmed CNC machine to produce components that is a plus but not a requirement.
We offer a stable, organized work environment working with a great production team. If you have the skills we need, the experience we seek and a strong personal drive to excel we can provide a career path to increasing responsibility and opportunity.
This is a full-time permanent position with steady full time hours Monday to Friday, and an attractive compensation package, including benefits.
If this position suits your qualifications and interests, please apply promptly. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview. Phone, online and live interviews are ongoing until the position is filled.
