Job Summary: We are hiring for our client, a Canadian-based manufacturer and technology company specializing in engineered communications and connectivity solutions serving industrial, defence, and specialized commercial markets across North America and international regions.
As Director of Sales, you will lead the organization’s sales and marketing function and play a critical role in achieving both short- and long-term business objectives. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this position holds full accountability for commercial performance including sales growth, profitability, market expansion, strategic planning, and overall sales and marketing effectiveness.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies that strengthen market position, improve operational efficiency, and support sustainable business growth. This role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on execution, including maintaining strong relationships with existing customers while bringing a proactive, hunter-oriented approach to identifying and converting new business opportunities, opening new markets, and developing strategic partnerships.
Working closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Finance, the Director of Sales will help drive innovation, support product direction through market intelligence, and align commercial initiatives with company goals. This individual will lead and develop the Sales & Marketing team, implement process improvements and automation initiatives, and create scalable commercial processes that support long-term growth.

Responsibilities:
· Lead and execute the company’s sales and marketing strategy to drive sustainable revenue growth, margin expansion, and long-term market development.
· Contribute to executive-level strategic planning and translate business objectives into measurable commercial initiatives.
· Optimize sales and marketing performance through the implementation of automation, AI-enabled tools, and scalable processes to improve efficiency and customer engagement.
· Manage sales and marketing budgets, resource allocation, and forecasting activities to support growth targets and financial objectives.
· Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), providing regular reporting on business performance, market trends, pipeline activity, and strategic progress.
· Drive both top-line revenue growth and bottom-line profitability through portfolio management, market expansion initiatives, and product commercialization strategies.
· Identify and develop opportunities in new industries, channels, and customer segments while strengthening market position in existing sectors.
· Lead, coach, and develop the Sales & Marketing team through structured performance management, mentoring, and succession planning.
· Build and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic customers, distributors, and business partners while supporting key negotiations and commercial opportunities.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and Production to align commercial priorities with business capabilities and customer expectations.
· Provide market intelligence and customer insights to support product innovation, commercialization efforts, and future growth initiatives.
· Establish compensation frameworks, incentive programs, and performance measurement systems for commercial teams.
· Champion continuous improvement initiatives and ensure alignment with internal policies, operating procedures, and organizational standards.
· Expand digital and online marketing capabilities including lead generation, content strategy, webinars, virtual events, SEO, social media, and marketing automation.
· Support new product introduction processes and commercialization efforts to strengthen competitive positioning and accelerate growth.

Skills/Qualifications:
- Proven “hunter” mindset when it comes to all things sales
- Proven success in a senior sales leadership role with responsibility for revenue growth, market expansion, and commercial strategy execution.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, pursue, and win new business opportunities while maintaining and expanding existing customer relationships.
- Experience developing strategic growth plans and delivering measurable results across both top-line revenue and profitability objectives.
- Strong industry knowledge within manufacturing, industrial, technical products, engineered solutions, telecommunications, defence, electronics, industrial technology, or related sectors is strongly preferred.
- Track record of opening new markets, developing channel partnerships, and expanding customer penetration through proactive business development activity.
- Experienced in leading and developing high-performing Sales and Marketing teams with a hands-on, coaching-oriented leadership style.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence stakeholders, negotiate complex commercial agreements, and build long-term customer relationships.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, pricing strategy, margins, and performance metrics.
- Experience implementing sales process improvements and leveraging CRM, automation, AI, and digital marketing tools to improve commercial effectiveness.
- Ability to convert market intelligence and customer insights into actionable sales strategies and product opportunities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Finance, Procurement, and Product teams to drive business outcomes.
- Experience establishing KPIs, compensation structures, and performance management systems for commercial teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to report and influence at executive and board level.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required to support customers, business development initiatives, and industry engagement.
