Build Projects. Lead the Site. Deliver Excellence.
At Terrace, we believe successful projects are built through strong leadership, clear communication, and a relentless commitment to quality. While plans, budgets, and schedules are important, great projects ultimately come down to execution in the field.
We are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to lead multi-family and commercial construction projects in Grande Prairie and surrounding areas. This is an opportunity to take ownership of project execution, lead trade partners, mentor site teams, and play a direct role in delivering projects that positively impact communities throughout Alberta.
This role is ideal for a construction professional who enjoys being on site, solving problems, coordinating people and resources, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality.
About Terrace
Terrace is a project and development management firm that represents owners throughout the planning, design, procurement, and construction process. Working alongside developers, institutional organizations, Indigenous communities, municipalities, and private sector clients, we provide leadership and oversight across multifamily, commercial, land development, and community infrastructure projects throughout Western Canada.
Our team is collaborative, entrepreneurial, and focused on providing trusted leadership throughout every stage of a project.
The Opportunity
As a Site Superintendent, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day construction activities on site while working closely with the Project Manager, Project Coordinator, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
You will be responsible for maintaining project schedules, coordinating trades, enforcing safety requirements, monitoring quality, and ensuring construction activities are executed efficiently and professionally.
This is not a role focused solely on supervision. We are looking for a leader who takes ownership, builds strong relationships, solves problems proactively, and helps drive projects toward successful completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all site construction activities from mobilization through project completion.
- Direct and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
- Maintain project schedules and hold trade partners accountable to project milestones and commitments.
- Coordinate work sequencing to maximize productivity and maintain project momentum.
- Conduct site meetings and communicate project expectations clearly and professionally.
- Monitor project progress and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and performance.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, building codes, and quality standards.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with Terrace safety policies and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
- Complete site inspections, deficiency management, and quality control reviews.
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment requirements, and site logistics.
- Work collaboratively with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator to monitor budgets, schedules, procurement activities, and project reporting.
- Maintain accurate site documentation, daily reports, photographs, and project records using Procore and other project management systems.
- Support project closeout activities, deficiency completion, commissioning, and turnover.
What We're Looking For
You may be a strong fit if you have:
- Experience leading multi-family, commercial, institutional, or mixed-use construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, and site operations.
- Experience coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors simultaneously.
- A thorough understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to anticipate challenges and proactively develop solutions.
- A commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and professional accountability.
- The ability to motivate teams and maintain a positive project culture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman trade certification, Construction Management education, Engineering Technology diploma, or related construction background.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Site Superintendent or senior field leadership role.
- Experience with multi-family wood-frame, concrete, commercial, or institutional construction projects.
- Experience with Procore Construction Management Software.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar scheduling software.
- First Aid, CSTS, WHMIS, and other construction safety certifications considered assets.
