Full job description

full-time Load Planner / Dispatcher to join our operations team.

This position is ideal for someone with experience in transportation, trucking, dispatch, logistics, and chemical management who is organized, confident making operational decisions, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

Plan, coordinate and dispatch loads to drivers and equipment.
Assign drivers and equipment based on availability, qualifications, customer requirements and operational priorities.
Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules and optimize routes.
Monitor active loads and driver progress throughout the shift.
Communicate with drivers regarding load details, timing, locations, products and changing conditions.
Respond to breakdowns, delays, weather, road conditions and last-minute operational changes.
Communicate with customers regarding orders, delivery status, delays and scheduling requirements.
Ensure dispatch decisions comply with Hours of Service (HOS) and applicable transportation and safety requirements.
Coordinate third-party carriers and owner-operators.
Maintain accurate load, dispatch and transportation documentation.
Work closely with branch operations, yard personnel and other Load Planners to maximize driver and equipment utilization.
Coordinate the transportation of chemical products while ensuring product compatibility, equipment requirements, documentation and customer specifications are properly understood and communicated.
Ensure chemical loads are planned and dispatched in accordance with applicable TDG, WHMIS, safety and transportation requirements.

What We’re Looking For

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–4 years of related experience preferred.
Previous trucking, transportation, dispatch, logistics or oilfield experience is an must have.
Must be competent in chemical management and understand the safe handling and transportation requirements associated with chemical products.
Strong understanding of chemical compatibility, product identification, TDG documentation and appropriate equipment selection.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Comfortable working with computers, dispatch/tracking systems and multiple screens.
Knowledge of Hours of Service and commercial transportation requirements is an asset.
Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions when priorities change.
Strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance and accurate documentation.
