POSITION SUMMARY:
The Culture Instructor and Educational Assistant is a dual role within the student learning team. As a Culture Instructor, you will develop and deliver a comprehensive cultural program that supports students in building cultural knowledge, understanding, and personal growth so they may become responsible and engaged members of the community. As an Educational Assistant, you will work under the direction of a teacher to provide academic support and assist in the education and supervision of students
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drumming Instructor:
- Cultural Programming and Instruction – develop and deliver cultural programming that incorporates the knowledge, recommendations, and language of Tsuut’ina Elders and community members. Provide instruction and historical context related to culture, language, traditions, songs, arts, crafts, and traditional experiences of Tsuut’ina Nation. Create and facilitate projects and activities. Actively promote and incorporate the Tsuut’ina language into programming and activities.
- Student Engagement and Support – maintain a positive and productive learning environment. Provide guidance, supervision, and support to students. Participate in and assist with cultural activities and events.
- Collaboration and Community Engagement – collaborate with teachers, school staff, and community members to plan, implement, and evaluate cultural programming and activities. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with cultural leaders, Elders, and community members.
- Professional Learning and Cultural Leadership – provide cultural knowledge and support for initiatives, cultural activities, and professional learning opportunities. Support staff, students, and parents and/or guardians through the incorporation of Tsuut’ina traditions, realities, and historical practices.
Educational Assistant:
- Student Support and Instructional Assistance – work with students in small groups or on an individual basis. Assist in remedial work, reinforcement, or practice of skills. Support preparation of individual or small group projects. Oversee the class while the teacher works with small groups or individuals. Assist in marking exams or worksheets.
- Classroom and Curriculum Support – assist teachers in preparing curriculum materials and tests. Operate laminating, duplicating, and audio-visual equipment. Circulate curriculum materials, assignments, and texts; distribute and collect materials and maintain records. Assist in classroom management tasks.
- Student Safety and Supervision – supervise the loading and unloading of buses as assigned. Deal with minor student issues as required. Assist in organizing and supervising field trips and off-campus activities.
- Administrative Support – assist in the maintenance of records and files. Maintain associated records for materials, games, and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Desired Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED (CAEC) is required.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Tsuut’ina culture, languages, traditions, and protocols.
- Experience working with students in classroom or group settings.
- Experience with classroom management strategies, and delivering programs.

General Employment Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License (Class 4 preferred) with reliable and insured transportation.
