POSITION SUMMARY:
Working in consultation with the Resource Consultant, the Enhancement Facilitator will be available to community childcare programs when the needs of a child(ren) and/or the childcare program require additional staff support, training and modeling inclusive practices to facilitate inclusion and to service the diverse needs of all children. This position may serve child care programs throughout Oxford County.

2. Shares ideas, suggestions and information with Supervisor and co- workers related to Merrymount’s programs and the communities the agency serves. Makes families and community contacts aware of Merrymount’s services and resources. Participates in community committees on Merrymount’s behalf.
3. Helps and supports all other team members in accomplishing individual, team and agency goals, and in maintaining good work relationships within the team and with other teams. Participates actively and constructively in team meetings, in developing and implementing program objectives, ideas and activities, in team problem-solving and in team debriefing.
4. : Treats all children, family members, staff, volunteers, community contacts and visitors with respect, courtesy, and kindness. Makes clients feel welcome and comfortable. Resolve conflicts with co-workers privately, directly, and constructively, if possible.
5. : Performs all work in accordance with agency philosophy, mission and goals, applicable laws and regulations, agency policies and procedures, program manuals and best practices. Ensures client records are complete, accurate and timely.
6. Manages own time and the resources under his/her control efficiently and productively to complete all work effectively, on time, with minimum waste.

· Know, understand, and comply with all legal and agency health and safety requirements. Do not engage in pranks, horse play or other disorderly conduct.
· Use, inspect and maintain all legal and agency required protective devices such as personal protective equipment (PPE), pre-use equipment inspections, tools, etc. Do not use any defective protective device or use the protective device in an unsafe manner.
· Report required health and safety matters such as incidents, health and safety concerns, defective protective devices, unsafe acts, hazardous conditions, legal contraventions, first aid treatments, work refusals, etc.
· Report emergencies and initiate appropriate emergency actions as required or delegated.
· Participate in the Return-to-Work process including obtaining medical documentation describing restrictions, identifying suitable job activities within capabilities, maintaining communication with agency, do not work outside restrictions, etc.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Works in consultation with the Resource Consultant.
2. Models the principles of inclusion by supporting and making a commitment to all children in a positive manner and by providing “hands on” support to assist all children in their participation in the childcare program.
3. Enhances the overall program at the community childcare by making suggestions for modifications of activities or routines, by modelling specific strategies and by assisting and initiating in the follow through of activities within the overall structure of the childcare program, enabling the childcare staff of the centre to be trained.
4. Facilitates workshops and training sessions for childcare staff, parents, and community with Resource Consultants.
5. Adheres to all policies and procedures of the childcare centre in which he/she is working.
6. Supervises placement students as assigned by the supervisor of the program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
:
1. Has completed (or has partly completed and is actively pursuing) the following educational qualifications required for Resource Teachers under the Childcare and Early Years Act and Ministry of Education Licensing Manual: ECE plus Early Childhood Resource Teacher Certificate from a community college, OR ECE plus Developmental Service Worker, OR Ryerson four-year BA in Early Childhood Education with specialization in children with disabilities.
In filling vacancies in this classification, if candidates with the above qualifications are not available, applicants will be considered who have an ECE Diploma or have been granted ECE equivalency by a community college, and:
- because of their experience, would likely be accepted in the childcare community as seasoned professionals in early childhood education and development, and as being very familiar with childcare needs and environments, and
- have a Child and Youth Worker Diploma and are willing to take additional education as needed to have knowledge of developmental disabilities and inclusion similar to an ECERT.
2. Substantial experience (two years or more) working with children with various special needs in a licensed childcare program and demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of families.
3. Strong knowledge and experience in early childhood development and early childhood education principles, methods, techniques, and curricula.
4. Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
5. Able to use a computer for operations such as word processing and access to database system.
6. Training and experience in the use of various screening tools, including DISC.
7. Able to flex hours according to client needs.
8. Able to provide own transportation in region serviced by AKB.
9. Current First Aid/CPR certificate.
10. Bilingual in English and French language is considered an asset.
