Position Conditions:
This is a full-time, indefinite term of 40 hours per week. Should the incumbent not return to the position, this term may become permanent. It will be offered in accordance with conditions identified in the Collective Agreement between the City of Brandon and CUPE Local 69. First consideration will be given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees. The City of Brandon reserves the right to underfill this position. The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.

Rate of Pay: $23.47 - $25.25 per hour - 2026 rates.

This competition will include testing and an interview.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
To provide routine manual work in cleaning the interior and exterior of City of Brandon Transit buses and the care and maintenance of tools and equipment necessary to perform the assigned duties.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- General upkeep of transit facilities and equipment;
- Cleans interior of buses using brooms, mops, vacuums, cloths and all other necessary equipment. Removes paper, dirt and dust from interior and wipes passengers seats, drivers compartment, visors, windows and interior walls;
- Cleans and washes exterior of buses using automated bus wash system, high pressure washer, wash brush, cloth etc.; cleans exterior walls, windows, windshields and drivers mirrors, cleans wheel wells, etc.;
- Drives buses in and out of Civic Services Complex; replaces hoses and cleaning equipment, washes garage floor with hose and clears dirt from floor, keeps a list of buses cleaned and duties performed in each bus;
- Notifies supervisor of repair needs and requirements for cleaning materials and supplies;
- Fuels buses as required;
- Maintains and fills equipment fluid such as DEF and window washer;
- Comfortable with Transit technology, including electronic farebox.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 with air Province of Manitoba Driver's licence or obtain within three (3) months of appointment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Sufficient experience to have demonstrated the ability to perform the position tasks satisfactorily.
WORK CONDITIONS
The Bus Cleaner works independently and in a team environment.
- Work in a shared and consultative manner with other employees (daily);
- Self-motivated and quality driven to perform independent duties and facilitate team goals (daily);
- Necessary to work in all types of weather conditions (daily);
- Must be available to work varying shifts (days/evenings);
- Responsible to the Manager of Transit Services.
