We are seeking an experienced Accountant to provide financial leadership, maintain accurate financial reporting, and support strategic decision-making across all areas of the business.
Position Summary
The Resort Accountant is responsible for overseeing the full accounting cycle for the resort, restaurant, spa, and retail operations. This position plays a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, internal controls, payroll oversight, and operational analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with department heads to drive profitability and financial accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain and ensure accurate account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to management.
- Prepare financial reports, KPIs, and operational dashboards.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process.
- Develop rolling forecasts and cash flow projections.
- Monitor all budgets and identify variances.
- Provide financial analysis to support operational decisions and capital investments.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
- Oversee vendor payments and purchasing controls.
- Monitor receivables, collections, and corporate accounts.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of all transactions.
Payroll & Compliance
- Oversee payroll processing and related remittances.
- Ensure compliance with CRA, payroll, HST, and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate year-end tax reporting and filings.
Hospitality Financial Controls
- Reconcile hotel PMS, restaurant POS, spa software, gift card, and retail systems.
- Monitor inventory controls and cost of goods sold.
- Review daily revenue reports and cash management procedures.
- Implement and maintain strong internal controls.
Audit & External Relationships
- Coordinate annual reviews with external accountants.
- Assist with banking relationships and financing requirements.
- Prepare documentation for lenders, investors, and government funding programs.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Work closely with department managers on financial performance.
- Train and support administrative staff.
- Participate in management meetings and strategic planning initiatives.
Qualifications
- CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Hospitality, hotel, restaurant, or resort accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Preferred Experience
- Hotel property management systems (PMS) such as Webrez Pro
- Restaurant and spa POS systems such as Aloha and Klickbook.
- Multi-department accounting
- Government grant reporting and capital project accounting.
- Financial modeling and business planning.

Ideal Candidate
This role is ideal for a hands-on accountant who enjoys working closely with operations and leadership. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable preparing journal entries, analyzing departmental profitability, managing cash flow, and contributing to the long-term growth strategy of the resort.
Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
