Full job description

Position Summary
The Truck Push is responsible for the safe movement, spotting, positioning, and relocation of trucks and heavy equipment at industrial, construction, oilfield, and transportation work sites. The operator conducts pre-job safety assessments, does load counts, provides guidance to drivers during maneuvering operations, and ensures all equipment is positioned safely and efficiently while maintaining compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct and participate in pre-job meetings, hazard assessments, and safety planning before the start of each task or shift.
Complete load counts and verify loads against shipping, dispatch, or customer documentation.
Safely direct and assist truck drivers when backing, parking, spotting, and positioning vehicles.
Perform truck push operations using approved procedures and equipment.
Maintain constant communication with drivers using hand signals, radios, and verbal instructions.
Monitor ground conditions, overhead clearances, and surrounding personnel during equipment movement.
Establish and maintain safe work zones during truck movement activities.
Assist with loading, unloading, and staging equipment as required.
Verify equipment and load securement before movement.
Complete vehicle, trailer, and equipment inspections before and after operations.
Report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses, equipment defects, and load discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
Maintain accurate records of load counts, inspections, and operational activities.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and toolbox talks.

Qualifications Required

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License (or applicable license required by employer).
Ability to work safely in industrial environments.
Strong communication, organizational, and situational awareness skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

Previous experience in trucking, oilfield.
Experience operating heavy equipment.
Knowledge of vehicle spotting, load verification, and traffic control procedures.

Required Certifications

H2S Alive (where applicable)
Standard First Aid/CPR
WHMIS
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or equivalent
Ground Disturbance Certification (asset)

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
Ability to climb on and around trucks and equipment safely.
Good vision and hearing to maintain awareness of moving equipment and hazards.

Safety Responsibilities

Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Conduct pre-job hazard assessments and communicate identified risks to crew members.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Maintain visual contact with operators and drivers during vehicle movement.
Verify load counts and ensure loads are secured and accounted for before transport.
Stop operations immediately when unsafe conditions exist.
Report incidents, near misses, hazards, and discrepancies immediately.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

Pay: $150,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
