Calgary – Youth Substance Use & Mental Health Services (YSUMHS) is looking for a responsible, reliable, flexible, team minded professional to join our Community Outpatient Team, in the role of Social Worker II. Along with the required qualifications, the successful candidate will possess skills related to teamwork, communication, & the engagement of complex clients & their families. You will work effectively on a multidisciplinary team including Addiction & Mental Health Counsellors, Family Counsellors, Recreation Therapist, Nurse Practitioner, Psychology & Psychiatry. In addition, you may be asked to support by responding to the diverse & changing operating needs of your own program & larger YSUMHS unit. As a Social Worker II, you will be responsible for managing a dynamic caseload, conducting psychosocial assessments, providing individual counselling & treatment planning for adolescents struggling with problematic substance use & co-occurring mental health issues. In addition to managing a caseload, you will also be responsible for providing community outreach to youth enrolled in the outpatient clinic. This role offers short-term, supportive interventions, in collaboration with their primary outpatient counsellor, to aid youth & their caregivers/families achieve success in their therapy goals. This may include connection to community services, supporting attendance to relevant appointments, mentoring & support for activities of daily living (school, recreation/leisure activities, communication, & relationship skills). This position can meet youth in the community or at the primary clinic location, including phone &/or virtual connections as needed to support bridging to services. Evening work & group facilitation is also required 1x/week from September – June each year.
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year working with adolescents with substance use/mental health concerns.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with high-risk youth and their family. Experience working with multiply community systems. Brain Story Certification. Preference with those who have training and/or education in relevant therapeutic modalities including Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT and other evidence-based therapies.
