Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join the Maintenance Team in our Richmond Hill location on a rotating shift schedule. This role will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, replacing, installing, and maintaining mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment in a heavy industrial environment.
The successful candidate will support production operations by ensuring equipment reliability, performing preventative maintenance, and responding quickly to mechanical issues in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who thrives in an industrial environment, has strong troubleshooting skills, and is comfortable working with mechanical systems and production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on industrial equipment
- Perform assigned maintenance work on large and small production units
- Overhaul and install new equipment
- Rebuild and fabricate mechanical parts
- Generate parts requests to ensure adequate inventory
- Complete work orders as assigned
- Inspect, install, repair, replace, and adjust all mechanical equipment in the plant
- Determine the best method of repair to minimize production interruption
- Assemble and align gears, bearings, shafts, pumps, motors, turbines, and gear reducers
- Align mechanical systems involving press, sliding, and running fits
- Advise when immediate shutdown of equipment is required to prevent damage or ensure safety
- Maintain strong safety awareness by wearing PPE at all times and maintaining a clean and safe work area
Shift Schedule
Rotating shift:
- 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM for 3 months
- 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM for 1 month
- Cycle repeats
- Occasional overtime as required
- Must be available to work overtime when needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years experience in a similar industrial maintenance or mechanical technician role
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Experience with equipment maintenance and/or service
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Prior diagnostic and preventative maintenance experience preferred
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Basic computer skills considered an asset
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently in an industrial setting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work overtime as required
