Community Support Worker – Part-Time

Location: Courtenay, BC

Position Summary

As a Community Support Worker, you will work closely with individuals to support their daily needs, personal goals, independence, and overall quality of life.

Your responsibilities may include:

Providing compassionate, respectful, and person-centered support in individuals’ homes and in the community.
Assisting with daily living activities such as appointments, banking, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and light housekeeping.
Supporting individuals with community inclusion, social activities, recreation, and meaningful community connections.
Encouraging independence, choice, dignity, and participation in everyday activities.
Building trusting and professional relationships while maintaining appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
Following individualized support plans and organizational policies and procedures.
Maintaining accurate, timely, and detailed progress notes after each shift.
Communicating relevant information and providing regular updates to the Regional Manager.
Supporting a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

A Diploma in Community Support Work or equivalent education in a related field is preferred.
Previous experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities and/or acquired brain injuries is an asset.
A genuine interest in supporting people to achieve greater independence and quality of life.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
The ability to establish and maintain healthy personal and professional boundaries.
Reliability, flexibility, patience, and a positive attitude.
The ability to work independently while also being part of a supportive team.
A valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract, required prior to starting.
The ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults, required prior to starting.
FoodSafe Level 1 certification is an asset.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification is an asset.
